*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I just hope they really, really have more than one EU English server as we'll be having half the continent on it otherwise. I'd imagine the Dutch, Scandinavians, Greek and possibly some Spanish and Portuguese will be playing on EU/ENG ones, not to mention Germans even though they have their own language server.

Just testing one and even worse, possibly launching with one is asking for trouble.

Not a chance they will launch with one EU/ENG server. They have the pre-launch guild set-up thing so they know roughly how many guilds they will have for each server type and be able to hopefully make the appropriate number of servers.

Will be very interesting how they do put guilds on servers because most of the large guilds(Immortals for example) have been beacons for other guilds to create links by adding as adversaries/allies. However some of these links might be too large for the servers so some unfortunate guilds(Hopefully not us) will most likely be put on a server with very few if any guilds they know which many will not be pleased about.

Yeah I worry that we may lose out on one or two of our allies, but then again with this game being so instanced they surly can have more than 10k per-faction per server, if not more.

Am i missing anything when not playing on a PvP or RP server? what are the advantages and disavantages?
What is the difference between PvP and RP?
When dying on a PvP server do you lose items?

It for me adds that extras excitement/suspense of not knowing when or where you could be attacked, some of the random open world PvP has given me and I'm sure millions of others the best times in MMO's.
This kind of random warfare and the excitement it brings is something you can never get from a PvE server, Arena PvP is played for different reasons and does not come anywhere near the excitement from Open world warfare.

Also Apem is TDR gonna have its own voice chat server for raiding and such?, if so I'd best get my headset sorted out

Ah right cheers, so in PvP do you just go round killing each other? What about teaming up for raids against bosses n stuff? Or is that all PvE?

MMO's and their Jargon! lol

Going to apply for one of the guilds, just need to decide on PvP or PvE? Have always rolled PvE in the past but may give PvP a bash this time. How are the two guilds looking size wise? is one more subscribed than the other?

PvP is like battlegrounds (WoW), warfronts (SWTOR), arena (WoW) and open world PvP (SWTOR), PvE is dungeons (WoW), flashpoints (SWTOR), raids (WoW) and operations (SWTOR)

battlegrounds and warfronts are same, so is dungeons and flashpoints, and raids and operations, they just have different names between WoW and SWTOR

Also theres PvP and PvE on both types of servers, just on a PvP server your flagged for PvP, so you can get ganked a lot when leveling up

Is there a server listing yet? Any ideas where most OcUKers are going to roll? As said, I'm going to jump on the OcUK mumble about half 4 so hopefully there will be some people to chat to!
 
How do you join a guild? Looking on your PvE guild page Apem but can't seem to find anything?
Also, is it ok if I'm a complete noob lol. Never really play any MMOs or RPGs!

I will sign up when it launches - the only reason I'm not prior is because me and some pals are doing a Republic guild so already signed with them - i'll get my sith based toons to join TDR though - :D
 
Just applied to the Black Sun Pirates guild.

I am trying to install the client, but the launcher has installed and just does nothing else - Is there something I need to do to install the full client? The launcher gives absolutely no options.
