Minecraft worth £17?

Yes, Fantastic little game.

I think I got it for about ~£10, how come it's gone up? Just with the release?

I guess so, plus its advertised as £16.xx on their website but by the time paypal converts their currency back to ours is closer to £18 now!

I don't know if I'd be saying this if I hadn't played versions prior to 1.8 but if your main enjoyment in the game is going to be exploring the landscape for interesting and varied terrain, rather than out and out building, mining or the new RPG elements then you *may* find it a bit boring. Prior to 1.8 the land was generated with significantly more variety and 1.8 onwards it is quite bland in comparision. Like I say, had I only seen 1.8 onwards I would have been none the wiser and it probably wouldn't have been as disapointing having not seen how the land used to be, but I have to say the game for me has changed for the worse because of this.

Would someone please for the love of god explain how to make waterpumps etc? I have tried installing mods but I'm useless at it :(

This. I find it pretty boring because I am more interested in exploring and overcoming challenges, than crafting and mining (which I find tedious to the extreme), but I have a friend who has sunk hundreds of hours into it.

If there's a demo, try it first.

whilst its a great game its true value will only be appreciated if your someone who has a bit of imagination and can work on your own initiative.

Its not a game that will lead you by the hand, its basically log in and your on your own.

Theres tons of resources around on teh web for the finer aspects of teh game in terms of redstone and crafting etc.

It really can be one of those soul destroying games, for example i consider myself quite imaginative and take some pride in my builds but minecraft is a game that can easily depress me once i find someone else's build that just makes my efforts look like a child with lego bricks.

That being said get yourself onto the linktart server and you will find that the game expands immeasurably with all the different personalities and traits you would come to expect from an online community.

You will generally always get someone who will help or offer advice. Some people have different areas of expertise and the admin team are second to none.

So yeah if your willing to put the time into the game and the imagination to work with then the price for the game is nothing.

Alpha - €9.95 (50% discount)
Beta - €14.95 (25% discount)
Release - €19.95

I've got mine for €14.95 but it came with a gift code so basically half that price.
