found out why its red its because v-sync but if i turn v-sync off it turns in to white that's just gay ps.. its supposed to be white

here it is with v-sync off

so in the end bf3 has problems with v-sync it has problems with ht technology it has problems with vram as it shows 800mb with crossfire off and 2400mb with it on

edit: i still have the lag spikes but i stand that its a problem with the game that they will never fix

ok if i turn on v-sync the lag spikes go away

this is from a post i made on a other forum

I only use vsync in racing games...for some reason it makes it feel smoother, in fps it tend to see some spikes which annoy me.

Vsync is fine for me. Not done the graph thing but dont need to i enjoy it, it runs smooth for me.

thanks that made me lol a lot i said it runs good with v-sync but with it off i get 1 second lag spikes every 10 to 5 min then it stops then it comes back after 10 to 5 min again and it only does it for 1 second

Fair enough you have problems if you disable vsync but if its fine with vsync on just keep it on? Much smoother game with it on imo and fps is still good.

It makes no difference to the Game if CF is on or OFF when it comes to Vram.
Vram is duplicated in CF and is handled by the drivers period.

The game does not see 6GB of vram on Trifire with 3x2GB cards, the game will see 2GB of Vram, available.

Programs like after burner adds all the Vram together including the duplication.

So single GPU =800 then turn on CF which would have to be tri fire 800x3=2400.

Om my system single gpu 1700MB used, turn on Quadfire 6800MB used, the game only used 1700MB the driver duplictaed the 1700MB across 4GPUs and 4 lots of Vram to give 6800MB.

you dont get it do you? when cf is off when i play the game it says its using 800mb of vram but if i turn cf on it says the game is using 2400mb vram am not talking about how much vram my cards have am talking about what the game is using

And im telling you the game is using exactly the same amount of vram no matter if in CF or not.

What i said had nothing to do with the amount of Vram you personally have but the explanation of how CF works with Vram, CF duplicates any Vram used across all GPU Vram memory banks, the game has no say in that and no control over that at all and what Afterburner is doing is adding it all together as one which is like saying quadcore CPU at 5Ghz is really a 20Ghz CPU.

The problem is that you don't understand how Afterburner reads Vram when in CF mode and when not in CF mode and you have made the assumption that its the game.

So unless your using NV card, cards with 2.5GB or 3GB per GPU its impossible, but you said CF so ill assume AMD and no AMD cards have more then 2GB per GPU, so again it cant use 2400mb vram Per GPU on AMD fact, you just don't understand what's going on with Afterburner when in crossfire mode and how it reads Vram usage in that mode, i have already explained it.

Others were confused when they first started using Afterburner Vram using feature on AMD cards with CF.

Afterburner is adding all and each of your cards memory together when in CF mode, if the game is using 800MB of vram on a single GPU and then you add another GPU= 2 for CF Afterburner will tell you 1600MB is being used, if you added a third card Afterburner will tell you 2400MB is being used. if you added a forth card Afterburner will tell you 3200MB of vram is being used.

You take the amount of Vram being used shown in Afterburner or GPU-Z if your using that and you divide it by the amount of GPUs in use to get how much vram the game is actually using, the author of Afterburner or GPU-Z will tell you the same, if i were you i would sign up at guru3d.com and talk to the author of Afterburner, but i would not use that nickname because that user has been Banned from guru3d.com just recently..

You really should have posted your specs because that would have helped allot.

guys if your using after burner with amd cards in cf here is a little tip

Vram Usage:

Afterburner is adding all and each of your cards memory together when in CF mode, if the game is using 800MB of vram on a single GPU and then you add another GPU= 2 for CF Afterburner will tell you 1600MB is being used, if you added a third card Afterburner will tell you 2400MB is being used. if you added a forth card Afterburner will tell you 3200MB of vram is being used.

Lag Spikes:
If you get lag spikes every 10 min or so for 1 second like i do turn on v-sync fixed the problem for me i have hyper threading technology off but i will try to put it on and see if i get lag spikes dont forget to do this in the console every time you start the game for now till i find out how to make it apply every time you star the game i know there is a profile, will add the RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0 oh and do this one to ForceRenderLimitAhead 1
