I'm very out of touch with the latest hardware so thought I'd try a spec me thread.

I have a nice £500 bonus coming my way, which I plan on spending on myself on a new rig :D

I already have mouse/keyboard/monitor/soundcard/operating system/case

Would like a solid state for my OS and maybe 1 or 2 games (so doesnt need to be very big), and a secondary hard drive which needs to be no more than 500gb to store my music and apps etc.


I shall be playing FPS games like BF and CSS so will need a decent processor and graphics card. Will be playing on a res of 1680x1050.

I would perhaps like a processor which will overclock nicely to give me good speeds?

I get free delivery from OCUK also which helps nicely :)

Nope no PSU dude.

Hmm, well perhaps I could drop the SSD. Would have just been a nice luxury extra :p

And I could always add one in at a later date!

• Included a Z68 board for future proofing, it supports ivybridge CPU when they are release, so then yopu can do some overclocking if you pout a "K" cpu in.

I did edit last minute and said I do have a case, though.

Is there any of the components I could upgrade slightly since I won't need the case?

I'm liking the Ivybridge future-proofing also, as no doubt I will be upgrading in another 6 months or so!

Downsized the HDD, upped the PSU to cope with the 6870
 
If you can put about £30 ontop in from ya pocket you could go for a i5 2500k which is an amazing processor and you can overclock it.
