CycleScheme for one, which Halfords don't do. I like Cube's generally and I also have 105 gear on my Orbea which I find very reliable.
I'm pretty much only going to use it for training and racing so I'm not overly fussed about disc brakes - braking slows you down :p

Fair play, looks like an excellent bike!

Guys, bit of nutrition advice needed.

What's best to have in the morning pre commute to work? At the moment, I have a banana and not much more....then cycle 15 miles to work (18-20mph avg), then have a protein shake.

Is that the right idea? Or should I be doing anything else?

And I usually cycle three days a week, not every day.

I have a few slices of Soreen malt loaf and some fruit juice before a 21 mile commute 5 days a week. Mon-Thurs I have Ready Brek with skimmed milk and some whey powder and on Fridays I have a 4" thick sausage and bacon sarnie and a danish.

Yummy.

What is nutrition?!?! Some days I'll just have cereal, maybe a banana then set off. Can grab a roll and sausage/bacon once I'm there to top it up.

I was filtering very slowly on between the cars and the kerb and a can actually turned his wheel quite a lot(he was literally stopped and his wheel was out as if he was doing a turn in the road) and pulled in to block me,literally as I was beside him. Didn't even bother saying anything...gets more and more like this each day.

What is the actual point? What did he benefit from doing that? Sick of the A BIKE LETS GET PAST IT attitude especially when I'm breathing out my arse doing near enough the speed of the traffic anyway. They floor it onto the middle of the road then realise there is a traffic island up ahead that I'm making progress to, brake and then sit behind me again.

Sorry for the rant, having a day off riding tomorrow and getting the bus.

On a positive note - castelli quindicci socks are cosy as ****.

I'm pretty fortunate I cycle mainly through country roads to get to work so I rarely encounter those type of incidents.

I know what you mean by the 'must get in front a bike' attitude, even though the bike is going just as fast as the traffic.

I think you just become a little more tolerant of it after a while. You certainly harden up to it anyway.

Uh, nutrition. I usually commute on my morning cup of tea because I can't eat first thing without feeling rough for the rest of the day. I then have a smoothie or some porridge on the train or when I get to work.

Spent some time this morning looking for some decent condition Cervelo Test Team jerseys from 2009/2010. The number of fakes on eBay is shocking. Hopefully I've found a few genuine second hand items now; the owners all assure me the stuff is genuine and have offered a refund if I find otherwise.

Woohoo! My Garmin edge 500 was delivered today, been having fun in the office to see what I can get my HR up to. Surprised my 'resting' HR was about 56, even though I'm not properly resting.

Looking forward to its first outing tomorrow morning!

My commute is 15 miles. I have a bowl of porridge ~30 mins before cycling, then a protein shake as soon as I get to work. Then I have a second bowl of porridge.

On the way home (15 miles again), I "load" all day (I stuff my face all day), then I have a protein shake as soon as I get home and get dinner cooking. Then its off to the gym..

I would be interested in these if you can show me. Really like the Cervelo stuff from that year.

Porridge is probably the best breakfast for cyclists. I add cinnamon and nutmeg to mine to give it a little taste. Perfect before a Sunday morning Club run :)

Have a look here. Please do your own due diligence before bidding; just because it's from the UK doesn't mean it's genuine.

Well, i now own a Boardman Team CX, unfortunately it's currently at my LBS getting built however!

Everyone seemed to think I was a little strange for paying to get it built outside of Halfords, but to me £50 extra for the peace of mind knowing that someone competent was putting it together made it well worth it.
