For those with a key

November 30th is officially here, and you know what that means: the beta of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive goes live later today! The beta is closed for the moment and is only available to those lucky folks who snagged beta keys at events like PAX Prime and Eurogamer, but the good people at Valve have assured us that eventually everybody will get a chance to play the beta.

The official CS:GO developer Twitter said to expect the beta to go live “later in the afternoon”, so don’t lose any sleep getting up early. They also teased us with a screenshot of the beta release candidate build taken during testing earlier today:

Stay tuned to CounterStrikeGO.com to learn the moment the beta goes live! The CS:GO developers also announced that the official CS:GO website will be launched “late Tuesday or early Wednesday”, meaning we can expect to see the site go up before the beta.

The beta is small, consisting of only 2 player models (Seal Team 6 and Elite Krew for CT and T respectively) and two maps, the legendary favorites Dust and Dust2. As such, Valve has confirmed that there will be no preloading option.

No hotlinking!

He's got a point. CS may have 'classic' gameplay, but this type is much, much harder to get in to compared to your CODs and Battlefields. As a result, when the old player base starts to dwindle, there's usually not enough new players to replace them.

Is this the one that is supposed to be PC/360/PS3 cross platform playability?

I believe it's just PC/PS£/MAc (maybe) as Microsoft has XBL locked down and won't allow cross platform connections.

Saying that MS did allow ShadowRun to work as a cross platform game but that was a 1st party title and didn't fair to well :p

Valve trying to jump on the band wagon of COD and BF3 Success.

Let's see if they actually 'listen' to the gamers like they did with TF2 (different departments) or it will be another Condition Zero aka. CS flop.
