Sometimes I'm ashamed to be British...

I think locking people up 'for their own safety' is very sinister and is the sort of thing you'd more associate with totalitarian regimes and not supposed liberal democracies.

I don't have a problem with people having different skin colours. They can't really control what skin colour they have, so I don't feel there's a need to make an issue out of it.

What really annoys me is people who don't understand the British "norms", like queueing, saying thank you etc. It sounds petty but really grinds my gears.

For example, what is it with some Eastern Europeans (I'm talking adults, not kids) gathering in groups on street corners and getting drunk... What's wrong with the pub or someone's house? I can't say the ones I've seen are making a nuisance of themselves or anything, but it just doesn't seem right.

Off on a tangent, sorry. But in summary I am not really that bothered about where somewhere is from as long as they integrate properly.

Let me point something out here. The woman is an idiot (in case you hadn't realised already :p)

She is attacking specific people on this train. She doesn't know if they're immigrants, if they're born here, if they're just here on holiday etc. She is making her attacks from ignorance, that is one of the most stupid things that somebody can do. Also, I think you can argue that on those grounds she is being racist too- as she does not know the facts, she is making her statements based on the race of the other people.

Those things aren't British norms. There are queues everywhere in the world, people of all countries are taught manners etc. There are many British people who don't say thanks you and things like that. In those cases, it tends to come down to them being impolite individuals rather than the culture they were raised in.

I also agree with most of it, but she should've been arrested because she didn't simply insult people or have an argument, she was racist and obnoxious.

Not only that, but she was inciting hatred, she's an unfit mother and, whilst some people are over sensitive, this clearly wasn't the case. It's not like she was simply making a racist/sexist joke.

What did she say that was racist? She used no racial epithets for example. Calling someone black or Polish isn't racist. In fact saying they aren't British or English isn't racist either, it's an opinion which may or may not be correct or to your liking, but it isn't racist.

Rarely happens with first gen immigrants, but this is the same the world over, pretty sure Brits who move to Spain/France are the same. The second gen and such will integrate as they will grow up with the culture and customs of the country.
