30/11 Strikes.

because there isn't the cash to pay for it and we would just be outsourced if we did, most of my team have had no pay rise at all for 10 years, I would like everyone to get a great deal but that just isn't going to happen, so why should folks that have been battered into the ground have to sit and watch greedy people complain about an offer the rest of us would love to get and then be taxed for the privilidge of it

There is cash for it if a minority weren't getting most of it, no?

Why not get a job in the public sector then? Apparently you'll earn more money as well as getting a better pension?

Because my job doesn't exist in the public sector, they outsource it all :p

What is your job, I know it's IT management/projecty stuff.. right?

It's IT but not management, I work in support on Enterprise servers ( proper ones not what some folks would call enterprise ;) ) and SANs, Field maintenance, installs, mission critical account support etc

Official title is "Senior support engineer" but keep that one quiet or I will have Fox on my case ;)

Well what is the alternative to the growing disparities?

My thinking has very little to do with who employees me.

The better the private sector does the more potential tax returns the government can expect. A private sector that is performing well means high pensions for the state employees. Poor performing private sector means that the state has to cut back.

A new revised proposal is being formulated into an improved formal written offer for presentation to the Unions on Friday. Initial indications are that it's likely to be recommended for acceptance by PCS, NUT, ATL and Prospect. No indications from other Unions yet.

they had better not offer anything that will cost more, the last improvement was a disgrace

Funnily enough it was The One Show that captured the mood of the nation when Matt Baker asked David Cameron "how on earth do you sleep at night?" :D

Stupid question.

We all know pillows and mattresses stuffed with £50 notes makes for an excellent nights sleep!

Considering the supposed impartiality of the BBC then he should be censured for using The One Show as a platform for his own political views...

I doubt he captured the mood of the nation either if the reaction of the public toward the pickets outside of the 3 Schools where I was today was anything to go by, some of what was being said to them was pretty disgusting tbh......they got so much abuse that they packed up by midday and some came and helped us look after the kids instead.
