Seems they are simply agreeing with the perspective of someones statement from the basis of their own....

All I said was I doubt Matt Smith was indicative of the rest of the Nation, the same would be true of Jeremy Clarkson. That is not agreeing with anyone, or ascribing anything to be the mood of any majority, silent or otherwise.

Yes people can put any word and spelling they like on there as you probably know. It is how capisce is pronounced but not how it is spelt, although I know it is widely spelled that way. Still just because a lot of people do it, doesn't make it right.

That is it's stated aim.....thus Matt Smith should be censured, if he did indeed make such a politically biased statement while discharging his duties as a BBC presenter.

It's hard to remain impartial if they are trying to argue questions that segments of their viewers would like to ask, would be the sort of response. They would claim it was counterbalanced with other views etc.

That is how the BBC works.

It's hard to remain impartial if they are trying to argue questions that segments of their viewers would like to ask. They would claim it was counterbalanced with other views etc.

That is how the BBC works.

They are supposed to be impartial as Presenters....to give alternative views they have guests or commentators to offer such counterbalance.

He shouldn't have done it, he is adddressing his personal opinion as that of the BBC in his capacity as the Presenter of The One Show. I understand that it is a light entertainment show, but nonetheless the presenter in that capacity should remain impartial regardless. He made a specific statement, he wasn't offering an alternative or fielding a question or trying to illicit a responce from an interviewee...he made a personal political statement.....that is a no-no.

What would you say if he said something negatively provocative against Alex Salmond....he isn't supposed to give his opinion, he is supposed to field others....

I doubt it had any political motivation, Matt Baker is hardly Billy Bragg....he's probably feeling a bit of a div today after all the twitter malarky.
