Hey all,

Bought a 9800GT from ebay for my misses for £40 (no access to members market for about a week yet) and checked all the other sales the seller had and everything seemed ok.

Got the card yesterday. Uninstalled all the old 8 series drivers and installed the 9800GT as normal and installed the latest drivers.

Been working ok until a few minutes ago. My misses was playing sims 3 and her pc just went black screen. I restarted and got this:

Any ideas what has happened?

Is the card just a bad card?

Thanks

Bummer, I probably wouldn't go back to the seller on that one. As far as he knew (and you until the Sims 3 incident) it was working fine and dandy.

I'd oven cook it, nothing to lose. Failing that, link above, down to experience. :)

I have cooked it and stressed it for 15 minutes using furmark and no arterfacts now xD

Erm, I am a bit weary about the seller.

The title said 9800GT but the description stated 9500GT. He sold 1 to me and should have had 9 available, but doesn't sell it any more.

It also states returns accepted but at the very bottom it states:

All sales are final, No refunds or credits.

No returns will be accepted for defective products if the original packaging is damaged and/or missing accessories.

So I cannot open the packaging to find it defective and send it back. Bit of a double standard don't you think?

Hey Cleeecooo xD

Already done it. Rang paypal up, sent them images of the artefacts and the card and they said I will get my money back in the next 2 weeks or so and I just have to send the card back to the idiot who sold it to me!

Put the older 8800gts back in her rig for now... getting her a 5770 or new 6770 on the 23rd along with my new Bit Fenix Shinboi Windowed case I am treating myself too xD

you should have access to it now... either:

250 posts and 90 days membership

OR

100 posts and 1 years membership

Go to the home page of the forums and it should be 3/4 of the way down dude!

Never ever buy a GPU from Ebay, ever.

I bought two from there. Both had been on the cookie tray, both lasted about two days.
