1156 bolt thru kit question

A mate of mine ordered a Thermalright TRUE 120 black cooler to go on a new motherboard with a Sandybridge i5 2500k. But the cooler is missing the 1155 bolt thru kit. A replacement has been sent for free, but it's an 1156 bolt thru designed for Ultra series and MUX 120. Apparently 1156 has the same mounting holes as the 1155. But what he's wondering now is if the cooler will work with that 1156 bolt thru kit. The TRUE black 120 isn't called Ultra, but it's exactly the same isn't it? Only in black, so shouldn't it work?

TRUE is Thermalright Ultra extreme cooler and the bolt thru kit should work fine :)

I had the TRUE 120 on my i7 setup before going water-cooling.

Thanks. Forget what I just deleted, lol. :p

edit:I should have known that, I'd completely forgotten about TRUE being an acronym including the 'ultra' bit

Yep, will be grand, i actually bought another ultra on mm for a second x58 rig. When it arrived it only had s775 and 1155/6 bolt kits. Ordered a 1366 one from ocuk, 99p and they sent out two of them. Great cooler the TRUE, wish now id kept my black one as it looked better than my prolimatech super mega, cooling was identical.

Yeah, black one looks nice. I'm really happy with my silver TRUE, screwed it down nice and tight in 2009 and the temps haven't budged at all. Interesting your TRUE cooled the same as the super mega. Many people reckoned the prolimatech is slightly better but presumably that's not the case.

Yep, it was 1-2c better than the mega, not a lot really. Though the TRUE was lapped which probably helped, it also allowed the use of 12gb of high heatsink ram, (ocz reapers here) if i ever needed it. The mega's fan clips would be touching the heatpipe of the first ram stick.
