Hi, my headset has now gone kaput. I need a new pair. I am thinking either the Steelseries Siberia v2 headset or the Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A or any suggestions.
I would prefer it having analog connections as I have a Xonar D2X.
Thanks.

Useful people being useful again!

You should probably mention how much you want to spend too!

Im sorry, but a £40 mic and headphone set will be much better than any £90 headset.

Buy the Siberia V2 and every panda on the planet will simultaneously cry. God awful drivers and sound quality - even if they are very comfortable.

£90 will get you some Audio Technica ATH-AD700s. These are legendary amongst gamers and music lovers alike for their incredible comfort and awesome positional accuracy.

Hey there, thanks for the recommendations, I have given the Z6A a try but due to me having a bit of a big head it gets uncomfortable over time so its going back.
So yes I am going to try the mic and headphone route and see how that goes, I've bought the senn 558 and speedlink clip mic.

Decent choice, although I'd seriously recommend a headphone amp along with the choice of headphones...

Some things to consider (on the cheaper end):

- FiiO E5 / E6
- FiiO E11 (DAC as well)
- Anything by "Little Dot" (Google them) Edit: In fact, start here: http://www.littledot.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=821&sid=f49dcfcc9508828dee8e99de0e43c547

Well I am thinking I could sell my D2X and get the Xonar Essense ST which has a headphone amp included, what do you think?

I'd say as a rule that getting as much of the audio equipment out of your PC case as you can is a good thing, as there is a lot of potential electrical interference in there...

So for that reason, I'd recommend getting an external amp, over upgrading your card.

Something like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-050-SN&groupid=702&catid=1058&subcat= will have good enough sound quality that the average person will not notice the difference between them and a similiarly priced set of decent headphones (truth be told many "audiophiles" wouldn't notice the difference either) and have many handy features for gaming including the mic being on a boom and the mic auto-mutes when the boom is in the rest position (these have analog connections as well as the included USB dongle).

Not dissing the AD700s tho if the OP can afford them its a good avenue to go down, makes me wince when people reccomend over-priced gaming headsets in general especially the likes of plantronic.

While that's true as a general rule, my Sennheiser PC 360 sounds better with my Asus Xonar Essence STX than with the Asus Xonar DX and Fiio E5 that it replaced.
