Strange question, yo (or totally normal for GD)..

Yes, I can hear them.

My parents were also surprised that I could hear their ultrasonic cat scare-o-tron in their garden.

This, keep getting asked if the cat scare-erer is working or not.

I don't think it is a male / female thing as I know when me and my sister lived at home she could hear it too. The funny look is when you get something that turns on/off itself and you know it comes on because a sudden prescence of a high pitched noise.

I can hear next doors crappy tv through the wall....eeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiii

Hearing high ptched frequencies is to do with age, younger = better

I Tbh i can hear dimmers, trannys and stuff of poor quality or with a fault, anything that makes noise really, can hear those sonic pet / rodent plug in scarers.

When they're still, or moving? Do trannys sound different to normal people?

I hear the static from CRT TVs and weirdly people/creatures. I can tell if my cat comes in the room, or at least used to anyway. I haven't been around a CRT in long time now though so I don't know if I can still hear the static from them.

some things i can hear, but not everything. theres a projector in one of the lecture theatres im in sometimes that drives me nuts, and everyone else is looking at me as if im weird. same thing with a couple of the laptops people bring into lectures

I can hear them too but it doesn't bother me, it;s kind of relaxing. If I'm in the middle of nowhere (sometimes I am :p) it's just pitch perfect silence but if I'm in a house or built up area and I focus my ears I can hear background whine, like a muted TV noise but sort of /everywhere/.

I hate perfect silence because things start to seem really loud. It's like when it's perfectly silent I start to hear my pulse in my ears and a faint strange ringing.

I think that's why I sleep with a fan on, I like a constant droning sound that you can "tune out" but it's still there in the back ground. Seems like true silence that way.

Some earlier plasma tv's did make quite a bit of noise. You couldn't hear it while watching something at a normal distance, but if you got any closer it was definitely audible.

My 2405 squeals a little if I have simply turned it off rather than let it go to power save and then switch off after shutting down the computer. My missus reckons I'm mental but I can hear it!
Also, my old Sony Ericsson charger if not plugged into the phone would keep me awake.
I can also hear CRT noise, those stupid cat scared things, inverters in laptops and all sorts!

Yup, I can. A lot of people lose the ability to ehar higher frequencies with age - there's certain alarms on a few supermarkets around here which let out a constant high pitch noise to drive away kids, but the vast majority of adults can't hear em.

Oh god, those cat things are horrible. There's one on my way home and I want to cry every time I walk past it, it's a horrible frequency.
