UK couple driven to suicide by poverty and neglect

I apologise for being able to separate the issue from the appeal to emotion fallacy presented with it.

I don't want you to apologise. You've done nothing to me.

I just don't understand why you would rather post all that absolute **** and dribble and you can't bring yourself to post anything about the family. Who really gives a flying **** about who's fault it is? What difference is that going to make to them?

Have you got a heart? Any feelings? Or are you just a boring post robot?

There are a few others if you use googlefu, which one is unbaised?

They are all running the same theme, are they socialist propaganda sites also?

What, the free daily that's sole intention is to push us the lifestyle of Nemi; a revolutionary and free thinking sole? They are trying to destroy us from the inside man!
That's more socialist than throwing a piece of Stalin's bloody poo at Millbank!

It's arguably much colder to use two deaths as a vehicle for furthering your political agenda.

Yeah, I can totally see labour doing that (even though they invented the current benefits regime in it's original form of jobcentre plus and new deal, but that's politics for you.)

Sorry if you misunderstood me, but I wasn't trying to come across as political.

I just find it sad that in this day and age such atrocities still exist.

You seem confused. It was the OP that did all those things.

this country's Citizens are suffering, and yet the government allow assylum seekers, and the like to stay here, bring their families and live here, get free housing and all the support etc...
wtf !!!

Did you miss the OP's post per chance? The link and run where the only comment was a dig at the current government? Or does that not matter to you.

FWIW, and feel free to check, I'm an advocate of a citizen's income, which would serve to prevent such events occurring. What happened to the family is tragic, however, as I pointed out, there's some important things missing from what is being told so far, especially around how much benefit they were claiming. If the numbers given are accurate, they were not claiming everything they were entitled to, which makes it more tragic. If they aren't, then this is a propaganda story, which is a dishonest use of a tragic event.

Dolph, I have no intention of getting embroiled in the politics of this. I don't understand the variables enough to comment in any meaningful way. There are far more intelligent members here than me, who can bat blame and policy at each other all night long. It's the human aspect that concerns me. Dismiss it as emotional if you want - I just find it incredible that people are arguing about the politics when two people have died, leaving a daughter who possibly isn't going to understand what's going on. I've haven't seen the story any where else, but if the circumstances are as reported I just find the whole affair incredibly sad.

What happened to the family is tragic

Thanks. That's all I wanted.

Another labour policy carried over.

To add insult to injury the poor bloke even served our country in the army !

What is sad is that there is no social responsibility for this sort of thing. There is enough wealth in the country to take care of all the people below the poverty line without even blinking but then there is no responsibility for those that receive the aid to then get off that support.

The whole thing is broken and the reality is the society at whole is at fault not any one political party.

I find it deeply saddening - but then if I were so rich that I could do something about it would I? I'd like to think I would but if there were a solution to the problem wouldn't someone already be doing it?

*Some* of the citizens are suffering, a very small percentage. I don't see why we should stop people coming here from war torn countries where rape is more abundant than water & food.

George Hincapie posting style reminds me of several previous Perm banned users, just through i'd throw that into the mix, OCUK detectives have at it!

Wait, so he wasn't able to claim carer's allowance and she couldn't claim incapacity benefit because she wasn't diagnosed with anything, but she was also deemed unfit to work? By who?

Something's missing here, surely.. According to the article she couldn't move. How difficult is it to get a GP to say "you can't move"?

When the couple died, they were living in a wretched and appalling state. They had been living on £57.50 a week for the last 18 months. This tiny sum, just £4.10 each per day, was the unemployment benefit that was claimed by Mark.

Thats awful, going by my electric keypad metre I spend about £4.50 a day on electricity, to think there are some people that need to live on that :(

If this is the way the government is treating their own people I think its time things like immigration and foreigners living here on benefits are dealt with. How a country can go on like this I dont know, where is it all going to end?

Apparently its a lot more difficult than it used to be, In the past too many GP's just put people on incapacity benefit without doing proper checks. Now they have to be properly accessed and there is a waiting list to get it done. Not sure if thats what happened here but it could be the reason.
