Not quite. An extinct species of ibex was cloned some years back, using preserved tissue from the last living specimen which died a few years prior. If I remember rightly it died fairly quickly though, some sort of birth defect

Dolly the sheep worked. Cloning, Genetic Engineering and Stem Cell research are among the highest scientific discoveries mankind has ever made, yet thanks to a significant number of people still living with dark age mentality, they cannot be properly researched or gain as much progress as they deserve to have.
