Are rapists normal humans just uncivilised?

Wasn't mating back in the day just a case of moving from one partner to another and the male could sleep with as many women as he wanted? Thats what I got told anyway in Science at school.

So are rapists just less developed in terms of civilisation yet perfectly functioning human beings?

Im not trying to justify rape, its horrific, especially for the victim to go through but for years we've tried the 'lets beat up the rapist, lets kill the rapist approach' and does it work? No! Surely we should be putting them through phases of integration and gain them an education in understanding how civilisation works?

Anyone think this is the case? They have a perfectly functioning human brain, maybe more sexually triggered humans, but just don't have the intellectual grasp of modern civilisation?

????

HIstorically I believe it's always been a balance between the ability of the civilized male to suppress his natural instincts and the competing aspect of women just getting plain sexier. It's quite the internal tussle would you believe it.

Its not even 9pm yet chap!

I don't know how you did it in your day but around here we go out around 11pm after getting completely smashed then crawl in on Sunday half paralysed! Thats how we roll on the west coast baby! :cool:

Rape is not simply about sex, it is about power over the individual, anger issues, and so on...

It has little to do with civilisation and what your Science teacher failed to get across to you is that even in primitive and pre-civilisation societies sex was generally consensual, so while it may have been polygamous, brutal and seemingly random it was in fact a cumulation of a complex and specific courtship, not unlike any other animal we see today.

All civilisation has done is added to the evolution of that courtship and it has become more complex and advanced, although when you strip away all that sex is still fundamentally about procreation and the evolutionary pressure that implies on the individual. Some are able to control and/or express that mutually and some are unfortunately not able to do so.

Nah, we can afford to go out drinking all day and don't need to drink cheap cider before going out ;)
