closing my bank down

You made this thread just after 3pm, and when you finally get some balls to go outside and talk to strangers providing a service, you realise it's now closed.

Can you fail anymore today?

They will eventually close it if you don't use it though. I had a Barclays Current Account that I'd not used for a good few years and it was only when I went in the bank recently that I found out they had closed it.

Usually a bank will send a letter out if you haven't used the account within 12 months.

Sometimes it can take a few years, but I'd be a bit suprised if they just closed it without warning.

Did you move address where the old account was registered with?

Tell them you just inherited a large sum of money and then give a mate u dont likes phone number............they will pester the life out of him to come and talk to them.

DONT let Mum catch you telling porkies or it the naughty step m boy.....and no supper !!

Really you dont need any reason and certainly you should never explain yourself when
you are moving business....unless you want to of course.

Tell them you do not like their overdraft charges. They might refund them to try to keep you.

Or just say you do not wish to say. They can't do anything to stop you closing it lol :)

Why don't your ask your mummy, she seems to be in control of your life, sounds like a decision for her.

As discussed with the the Barclays person I had a meeting with in the bank, it was likely because I missed the letter. My previous address is my parents though and they give me all my mail that stills gets sent there, so I'm surprised I missed it.

Not the end of the world though as I didn't use it. I had always heard there is merit to keeping an account open you've had for a long time though to show merit with credit ratings and such.

I had this same thing with Natwest as I switched to Barclays.

They said 'What is the reason for your switch?'

My response 'They're offering a better overdraft'.

They then replied with 'We can match that'.

I then told them to sod off because it shouldn't take a switch of banks to get the terms I want. Just man up yo!

Doesn't effect credit scoring if the account isn't used.

But I seem to have the same sentiment if I ever go into my bank and need to speak to someone about their services.

Plus it makes my rants better when I say "I've been a customer for over 15 yrs" bla bla bla

Tell them you just inherited £442 million and would rather have it in a Barclays bank. Be sure to conclude with "don't worry".

I Respect a Dude who is close to his Ma, You only have One Mum.

Mine still gets me an advent calender :D

I recently went 39p over drawn (unplanned over draft) with Lloyds TSB, got a £72 charge (was over drawn for less then a day or something daft) they brushed me off, went back with my mum. She sorted it.
