I guess I could probally get around £300 to £330 for my MSI GTX580 Twin FrozR II/OC 1.5GB.

I noticed the MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Twin FrozR II 2048MB for £199 each >> http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp..._source=christmascalendarday10&utm_medium=web

Do you reckon it would be worth switching for around £70 to £100 ?

Also will my Corsair HX 750 PSU be upto the task? I normally have my 2500K @ 4.6GHz @ 1.28v, I also run at 1920 x 1200 resolution.

I woudnt swap a 580 for a 560 mate no. If you where swapping a 580 for 2 560's yeah then thats a improvement.
Indeed thats why I mentioned SLI, it's so tempting with that deal on the MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Twin FrozR II 2048MB.

Keep reading reviews, Hardocp saying it's worth it 20% improvement >> http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/02/21/msi_n560gtx_ti_twin_frozr_ii_oc_sli_review/10

We saw large performance differences, from 20-40% over that of a single GeForce GTX 580. These are significant differences. Considering the price is the same, it makes sense to get two GTX 560 Ti’s and get a free performance advantage compared to the GTX 580. The only caveat you might want to consider here is if you want to use high levels of AA. We compared at 4X, so we were not "taking it easy" on the MSI cards in SLI, but if you want to stretch beyond that at 2560x1600 you need to consider the 1GB of RAM on each of the 560 cards. This same argument comes into play if you are looking at using these 560 cards in SLI with a NV Surround configuration.

Of course, keep in mind that one GeForce GTX 580 is just the tip of the iceberg with that setup. You can add another GeForce GTX 580 with SLI and far exceed two GTX 560 Ti video cards. The two GTX 560 Ti video cards are at the "SLI'ing" limit to provide this performance for $500. It is interesting though that they do perform much better than a single GTX 580. So if you have $500, the fastest setup is two overclocked GeForce GTX 560 Ti video cards. Again, keep in mind also, these are limited by the 1GB of memory on board, whereas the GTX 580 has 1.5GB.

Then I read one here, saying it's not really worth it >> http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/geforce-gtx-560-sli_7.html#sect0

At the most popular resolution the GeForce GTX 560 Ti SLI has an average advantage of 20% over its opponents, its average scalability increasing from 50 to 62%. However, this doesn’t make any difference in terms of playability in any of the games. Moreover, the SLI tandem has a bottom speed of 30 fps in BattleForge whereas the single such card delivers 35 fps and the GeForce GTX 580, 45 fps. We didn’t see any performance breakthroughs even in the synthetic Unigine Heaven where the SLI tandem had the highest bottom speed among the tested solutions.

2GB 560ti SLI with the added benefit of more vram will destroy your 580

I looked at that benchmark about 10 minutes ago and thought h'mm so so, but now you linked it I forgot these MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Twin FrozR II 2048MB are clocked to 880/1760 each, so yeah I guess your right should destroy it. :D

But, is it worth it with new cards around the corner?
H'mm now I wonder when they will be released, January? April? June? I wish their was more clues as to when their will be even a paper launch. :(

Nah,i would buy another 580.

+1
When Kepler is out and 580 prices drop get one. probably be a few going cheaper on Member's Market. GTx 580 SLI will rape 560 Ti SLI big time and probably give the top end keplers a run for their money at a lower cost.

I think the 580 might be enough to struggle on at 1080p till kepler comes out. Is it really worth the hassle of selling up unless you really need more raw power? If you really need some power then just SLI the 580.

By the way that PSU should run 560Tis fine in SLI.

Very interested in this thread as am thinking of a similar upgrade, only I'd be switching my MSi 570 for 2 of these MSI 560Ti's. However this will cost me about £180 after selling the 570 so am debating whether it's really worth it.

No no no no no.

Getting rid of a super card like the 580 and replacing it with a headache = bad mmkay?

Headache?? Never had a single problem with my SLI 470. Plug and play. Worst thing thats happened is not switching SLI back on after a driver upgrade and wack the settings to full.

Ah. The "I need to justify my system to you because you don't share my opinion" post.

I've had SLI GTX 470. I own quad SLI GTX 295. I've had quadfired 3870x2 and CrossfireX 5770.

And through it all I would take a single powerful GPU over them any day.

Heat, noise, power consumption plug and pray. But that's just my opinion, so you don't need to explain yourself mate :)

Obviously doing something wrong :D

Me? Hardly.

Add a 2000 RPM Xigmatek to the side, removal of the hard drive bays completely, a 200mm Coolermaster Megaflow in the front

And my 295s in 90% of games never pass 65c. Note the spacing between them also.

Now. Load in NFS : The runs and watch them both hit 104C, with fans on 100%, before shutting down the PC. During a cut scene.

My fault? hardly. It turned out that the latest Nvidia drivers stopped my fans going over 75%, had broken shader support and messed up shadows, and put an incredibly bad load on my GPUs (that was obviously the game, though).

In summation when you are trying to sit down and enjoy a game, ONE problem is too many problems.

And I don't give a rat's who you are you are never ever going to have 100% smooth sailing trouble free gaming on SLI or Crossfire, even if your name is King golden bumcheeks.

Why is that?!

Most new games are perfectly optimized for SLI/x fire. I see no reason for problems TBH.

I have a pair of GTX560Ti 2GB cards, no issues at all with SLI.
I originally bought one, but was a little disappointed with the performance using a 3.6Ghz Q6700, so ordered a second.....

In the mean time I'd swapped to a I5 2500k and the performance of the single card was better and SLI was very good.

Not sure yet on micro stutter, even with a lower frame rate, BF3 on a single card seems cleaner though have been too busy for much experimentation.

Power wise, stock everything 400W from the wall socket or approx 340W DC.
Cards clocked to 900Mhz and I5@ 4Ghz is 460W from the socket or approx 400W DC.

All runs fine with a HX620 ....
