Die Hard Appreciation Thread!

How can people rate 4 above 2, four is the let down of the series, mainly watchable for his daughter.

Will be watching them at some point before Christmas, awesome films.

Order preference easy, each one has got worse so

Absolutely love the first - it's the best Xmas movie ever. Shame about the fourth... I thought it was pretty weak.
 
1 and 3 are by far the best. Number 2 is a bit like the "Alien 3" of the trilogy. Valid and entertaining, but just not as good.
 
I'm of the opinion that Die Hard is one of the most/best rounded action films to have been made. It's pacing, characterisation, action sequences and undertones of humour are class in my book. :)
 
Rating's are clearly in order, they got worse each time, largely because they got less believable and stupid every time, the 4th is abysmal in every single way. The first is a guy caught in a bad situation doing what he had to, the 4th is superman doing impossible things, with a ridiculous plot, with awful "techie/hacker" crap writen by some 60yr old guy who has no idea about technology at all, etc, etc, etc.

1 is epic, 2 isn't as good as 1, but still very very good, 3 has too much weak acting, too many stupid forced bits in and 4 just awful, in every possible way. Acting, action, story, cast, awful.
 
For me, 1-2-4-3 but then they're all excellent films so i'm not suggesting that the 3rd was crap, far from it in fact.

I lol'd at that, but not as much as one of the pre watershed dubbing versions of Die Hard, best line from alan rickman just before he takes the top floor sky-dive and he says to john "Oh, yes, what was it you said ...? Yippy Kiyay ... keemosabbe!" :eek::rolleyes:

Almost fell out of my chair, along with the great alternative insult: "Forget you!" :D dubbed over with such sincerity hehe.

oh, and Die Hard for me.
 
I have to say that I think Lethal Weapon is a better Christmas movie, but Die Hard is awesome, none the less. :p

Wooo, calm down dear! It's just an opinion. I thought that the 4th one was very entertaining. I liked the over-the-top-ness of it, it's basically what Die Hard is about! Yeah, the story line was utter nonsense but it was still an enjoyable, turn your brain off, action film.

Film is just an opinion, I enjoyed watching 3 and 4 more than I did 2. I don't need to justify it.

Who considers them the best by far? IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes disagree with you.

From IMDB the ratings are:
1 - 8.3/10
2 - 7/10
3 - 7.5/10
4 - 7.4/10.

1 - 94% Fresh & 8.2/10
2 - 65% Fresh & 5.9/10
3 - 50% Fresh and 5.7/10
4 - 82% Fresh and 6.8/10.
 
I love the Die hard movies, well 1-3. Die Hard 4 had its moments but I found it similar to Indiana Jones 4 - disappointing.

I'm planning to watch Die Hard 1 on Christmas Eve. Nothing like a good Die Hard movie to get into the Christmas spirit.:p
