This Is England '86

****, never knew about '88 . With '90 on the way too I just hope it doesn't keep getting milked until we're up to This is England 2030, set 15 years in the future :p.

Well the whole thing is based on Shane Meadows own experiences as a child then teenager growing up, he always wanted to do '90 since rave culture and Madchester/the Stone Roses were such a huge influence on him. I can't really see it going much further, though you never know.

There is a great article in this weeks Shortlist that has interviews with Meadows and the cast, turns out they weren't even planning on doing an '88 originally!

So, in the two years that have passed since the last series, Lol suddenly has a toddler, seems that shaun is finally developing an improved taste in women (assuming he's about to start 'rehearsals' with his co-actor and ignore smell.. and the rest, well, I really dont seem to give much of a toss..

Not overly impressed with this episode so far..

I thought it was brilliant. Obviously it was an introductory episode to get the basics covered.

It's definitely left me wanting more....best TV series ever.

Me neither. The final episode of '86 was good but it's gone back to being a cross between Shameless and Skins.

Great start tbh. The TIE series has mellowed out nicely. Smell scared the crap out of me though in tonights eps, she looks terrifying! :o

Only just got round to watching series 1, did them all back to back. I was in steams of tears at the end of ep4, when that chap changes the crime scene. Very moving stuff

Edit, I really liked the guy who played the bully 'Flip', such a funny screen presence :D

Boring Episode? The scenes in the hospital and the jail were amazing. 2 good actors and a good screenplay, nothing more necessary. Then ending was the worst part...but I guess you liked that as it had sex and action in it and all that jazz.

****? Pfft. Didn't you say the same about Drive?
