Is evolution a religion?

Indeed. Likewise, how a television can show a picture and how a motor engine can run a machine are other such phenomena.

:p

What, you saying that there are not tiny people inside my TV and little horses inside my engine hence the term horse power??

The thing is Bhav, you read what you want to read. I am very familiar with how penicillin works, trust me.

Vonhelmet was stating that science does not provide truth. He's right, it doesn't in a strict sense.

However our knowledge of a field of science can become so comprehensive and so practically useful that to suggest that 'we do not know for sure a certain mechanism' begins to sound pedant to the point of meaningless.

I honestly don't know how you are misreading what people are saying so consistently. You were doing it in the 'cat eaten by a snake thread' as well. Take more time to digest what people's points actually are.

We know that penicillin kills a number of infections. How it does that is always going to be the subject of a theory based on our current understanding of microbiology.

How penicillin works is not a theory, it is a fact with repeatable methods which fully explain how it works.

I read Vonhelmet's post very clearly. you probably didnt.

I find it amusing some people consider evolution as fact. If people believe their ancestors are apes they are free to do so. But such beliefs should not be pushed around as fact.

I believe evolution is a quick fix for atheists. A way of bringing meaning and explanation to their existence.

Have you heard yourself speak? Those are the exact reasons why you have doubtless turned to religion, it's sad to see that you can get to the point where you're so blinded by that fact that you would actually accuse others of your mistakes and not have second thoughts.

Explain dogs.

Well, tbh this is what 90% of people in Bradford are like :(

99% of the clever people here move away. Far away.

The difference is I’m not aggressive with my beliefs, if i believe something I’m not going to go around and shove it down others’ throats as facts.

A religion is something that people follow, well religiously, it's a faith, they belive in it, they can't disprove it, they can't prove it, hence it is a faith. They are religious, go to church, mass, pray to Allah etc become monks, and so on.

This is different to a spiritual belief where you kind of believe in something but you don't follow it religiously.

Evolution has material evidence (fossils), it withstands scrutiny and it is fact, not belief. It is not a religion.

To summarise, avoid church religiously, or go now and beat the Christmas rush.
