Steam Christmas Sale 2011

Assuming of course that Steam start the sale on the same date as last years one :p

Yes, I've just been doing a bit of digging around. A lot of achievements based on a winter theme have cropped up in games which leads some folk to believe they are doing another stupid event like the summer camp. :|

What's the point? Anyone holding out for Skyrim for it to be in the Christmas Sale is kidding themselves. The game can be had in retail for £20, features a physical map and you can play it now.

Base price on Steam is still £40, even if they discounted it by 50% (which they won't), it will still be £20. So what's the point in waiting?

It's most likely going to be the base price down by £5 and 25% discount.

Not only that, but Skyrim is a Steamworks game anyway, so you can just pop the key into Steam and forget you ever had the disc. You don't even need to install it from disc if your broadband is faster than installing from optical media.

Do what a friend of mine did for Shogun 2 (also a Steamworks title) and throw the case and disc away if you're so against having useless bits of plastic lying around.

Oh well couldn't wait for the sale to start :p

You crazy person!
Should have waited a couple more days, it may be half that price in the xmas daily deals.

I think the same rule will apply with the Xmas sale as it did with the Autumn Sale:

Lots of games/dlc's will have their prices slashed when the sale starts and will remain at that price until the sale ends. However, it could also come up in a Daily Deal and be even cheaper or a better deal with DLC's included etc.

If there is a certain game/dlc you want, even if it has been reduced as part of the sale, wait for the daily deals, if it comes up, buy it as this will be the lowest price it will probably go to. If it dosent show as the week goes on just wait till the end of the sale, so on the last day of the sale, if the game you want is not on the final daily deal then go ahead and buy it as the day after the sale finishes, it will go back to its original price.

:D

Today seems to be the last of the Daily Wishlist thingies.

A new game starts tomorrow. Check back to join in on the excitement!

which suggests it's not just an ordinary sale. Winter camp is becoming a reality.

I guess the sale could start tomorrow, and run for 2 weeks until 2nd Jan. Or, they will make it 20 days of giveaways, and then move into the sale. Where did you find that comment ic1male?

Hmmm.

I will no doubt buy something, not sure if I have the time to play it though!

I think if SR:3 is on offer I'll consider it, but it's a bit new. Not much else I'd like to play, maybe Driver: San Francisco if it's going cheap.
