Another I've Been Scammed On Ebay Thread

I'm on nightshift at the moment and there has been a few developments to the story. Unfortunately , my phone won't let me copy and paste so i'll post the transcripts when I get home.
Basically , I got a message saying he'd taken the CPU to a local PC shop who said there were 4 bent pins. Apparently the shop wanted £35 to repair the item. He said if I paid him £35 he would be happy.
I emailed him back with an email address to send the pics along with the name , address and phone number of the PC shop .
He replied back that it was ok and was 'willing to take a hit'
So he was trying to obtain cash by deception. I'll get in touch ebay and try and get my negative feedback removed and report this user.

Sounds like he's trying to scam you. Hope eBay doesn't go with the buyer.

Had someone open a case about an undelivered item a week after I sent it. eBay refunded automatically and wouldn't even wait the 15 days that Royal Mail said it might take. In the end I think they received the item as the refund was cancelled.

These days any fairly expensive product like a PC/Laptop or Server i sell on Ebay is cash only and collection in person. Had too many run ins and i don't care if i lose customers due to no shipping, my item always sells eventually.

Well as promised here's the 'masterclass' of the conman trying to do me over on eBay ....

1st message after leaving me negative feedback ... "Dear *********,I took the processor to my local computer specialist. They have taken 4 photographs which I can email to you to show the bent pins. They can fix the item for me, but this will cost me £35. I have made initial contact with e-bay as you have said no returns accepted. They have advised to discuss this with you first. Royal Mail may pay for damages if you have also insured this item. I am willing to risk the repair. Your thoughts are welcome. Regards. ***."

I did not say about not accepting returns by the way. My reply .... "Dear ******** ,please send pics and the name, address and phone number of computer shop to *********@********.com"

And the conmans reply ... "Hi **, no worries. I can only tell you how it arrived with pictures. The bubble wrap is the smallest piece i've seen to wrap an item in and wasn't taped. I'll take the hit.Regards ***"

Now going to message eBay and take great joy watching this fella have his eBay account closed.

Thanks for all the help and advice folks :)

Did he ever send any pictures?

When I sent my Athlon CPU in the plastic packet I didn't even need to use much bubble wrap because it's in the hard plastic. If yours was in a small box after that then it's even more secure.

However ideally you should have taken pictures of the wrapping/box/packaging you used as he could just change it to look like inadequate packaging and when they ask you where's your proof of packaging you wouldn't have any.

I won an item on eBay 15 days ago and still hasn't turned up. I mean I only paid £9 but its the principal. According too eBay the time I have been waiting is not long enough and have to wait till friday to open a case.

If he is blaming the courier request him to send you pictures of the packaging everything that you sent with it.. if there is no visible signs of damage to the packaging or anything then the damage must have been caused when opening and trying to use the product.

to claim off couriers they do require photo's of the packaging in order to determine if packaged sufficiently and to determine if it had been caused in transit and too be honest would be extremly unlikely.

Did this guy have good/high feedback on his account?

I wish you could filter bids so people with "x" amount of feedback could bid. People lower than this have to go through some sort of approval with the seller.
