that doesn't sound right. i've come across a lot more oranges than i have purples so far. also i've read somewhere there is light and dark purple, darker being the rarer.
 
Apparently not, the republic armour is seriously lacking at the moment.

Got this game yesterday after the whole TS3 group decided to get it.

Enjoying it a lot, however my ATI 4860 is really struggling with it. (Q6600 CPU) Everything is set to low, yet when I was in the tombs doing the starter quests I was getting massive FPS drops. It also happens in the Sith Academy. Running fullscreen or windowed makes no difference.

Is this game really that tough on gfx? I didnt really think I would have to do a hardware upgrade :(

I'm not sure why the "orange" gear has caused so much confusion.

The level of the gear is totally dependent of the level of the mods.

Orange item with green mods = green item.

Orange item with blue mods = blue item

Orange item with purple mods = purple item
 
Hey Peeps, loving the game at the moment but my gf is getting jealous and now wants an account but have been looking today and there's no where I can find online to grab a copy/cd key. Anyone have any ideas where I can get one today, wouldnt mind having a play tonight without her crying distracting me
 
Doesn't the orange gear also have base stats though? Which could make it better/worse than Purple items of the same level, even with mods?
As far as I've known - none of them have any stats (apart from a "base" armour amount pending on if it's light medium or heavy).

All of the stats are derived from the modifications - with armouring deciding on the armour value (I assume a multiple of the base heavy/med/light values unmodded).
