ok I'm bit confused with all the posting so could someone clear this up for me please , so if I preordered the digital deluxe verison on origin that has 30 days game time free and was already playing in the early access I can't play now untill I setup auto renewal subscription or enter game a time code?

That is exactly correct - it tells you this after you enter your retail key.

Clear maybe, but unexpected... so it's clearly unprecedented otherwise many people wouldn't have been caught out would they? It is a little back handed I must admit, especially after parting with a minimum of £44 and still not being able to play.

I have 1.5 gig left to go. <3 100MB leased line at work, even if the other side is capped to 1.67MB/s.

It's far from unprecidented. I could name 10 mmorpg's of the top of my head since the turn of the millenium that require this, pretty much every one I've ever played has & I've played a shed load of them. Really. Honestly, this is standard practice, I struggle to think of one that hasn't required it.

Most mmo's have something like 'Game requires an active subscription in order to play' on the box, this also covers the initial 30 days, otherwise they wouldn't be able to do the big press release after a week with the number of their subscribers would they?

Star Wars the Old Queue....and by god is it getting old fast

:D Nicely put.

As for the debate on how clear the instructions are for entering your code and setting up subscription it's certainly an interesting one.

I don't have any hard facts so am purely speculating based on Forum and Website reports but I'd have to lean towards there definitely being an issue regarding this matter. If the instructions were as clear as people seem to be indicating (I personally cant remember and have been away anyway) then surely the vast majority wouldn't be experiencing a problem?

It does seem like it is not an isolated issue affecting the few, quite the opposite. Additionally I would like to believe that the gaming community have a reasonable level of intelligence.

Lots of opinions on this matter as always, and it makes for some great reading (especially when your in another Q!):D

I disagree that it was clear, if it was as clear as you say I would have done it straight away

There was a section on the left of the screen iirc with boxes listing 'steps required in order to play', right after you'd entered your key. As you moved down the list they were ticked off. This is from memory of a few days ago, but it was fairly obvious ;)

Unless I was hallucinating :D

Of course, I was expecting to sunscribe when I entered my key from previous experience.

He's referring I think, to the fact that you need to set up a sub before you get your free time. That is not usual practice. Usual practice is to enter your cd key details then play your 30 days then set up a sub to continue playing.

I think that might have been the way to go here, would have = a 30 day period in which a sub could have been set up, but Bioware seems to be in a rush.

It is usual practice, it was needed in WOW, Rift, AoC, Warhammer and plenty of other MMO's. They do it so they can do a big announcement with how many subscriptions they have got.

It's nothing new at all, if you failed to enter a subscription then it's down to you not Bioware. I know they haven't made it clear enough, but there was a check list and after entering my key for the 30 days it stated i needed a subscription which i instantly did.

In the end, everyone is making a big hoohah about it as they can't currently play, right there might be a lot of people complaining but you won't see the people who are playing saying something. So if you look at in that sense, not many are going to be affected considering there is well over a million subscribers.

The game itself is brilliant, the customer services are so-so and the queuing can be truly awful pain in the rear. 20 word review.. :)

Wow at last paid for one month, i had order a time card, but hasn't come yet.

well got ES spinning circle, order processing for over 3+ min after i paid via paypal, my payment process is stuck!!!

I think ts a very good game and potentially one that'll keep me for a while. Currently there are queues on some servers but I expect that'll settle down eventually. Queues on servers are not new when an mmo launches but I have to admit queuing on the subs web page so I can enter my cd key is a new experience and I've probably played all the major mmo's on launch over the last 5 years :D

nvm, that'll learn me not to try and eek out every last second of free time before using my paid for time.

Still can't get in to register a subscription.

Haven't been able to play today at the times I have been free to do so.

Lost a day of play that I have paid for just down to the fact they want my details for payment in a month's time. Surely they should have only asked for a subscription to be set up once the initial game time has expired.

Finally subbed up and only a 5 min queue on the server. 5 min queue at 1715. I could live with that if that's as bad as it got. I could live with a 10-15 min queue. I'd rather have no queue though obviously on any server

SPOILER ALERT - DO NOT READ IF YOU LIKE GOOD NEWS

Possibly reported already, but thought I'd re-share seeing as it is good news

Patch Notes: 1.0.0e (from last night)

1. Fixed an issue that caused some pre-assigned guild names to display incorrectly.
2. Players who are disconnected while in the queue to join a server now retain their position upon logging back in within a reasonable amount of time.

Awesome!
