Not sure if anyone's mentioned summer/winter but I've heard temperature is another factor.
I'd hope not - it'd break down rather quickly on unleaded
Plus do they even do a C180 CDI? I thought the smallest one they offered was a C200 CDI.
high performance ecus have a map for 97, it allows aggressive ignition timing for more power.Genuine curiosity here, not a rant. I notice a lot of you posting that you buy V Power or Super whatever petrol, but I can't see what you gain from it? By my understanding, your engine will either knock with a given fuel or it won't, and all modern petrol road cars are designed with 95 octane unleaded in mind because that's the "normal" fuel sold at petrol stations. So if it can use 95 without any problems, what do you gain from paying more for higher octane fuel? There's no efficiency savings, no power boost, just a lighter wallet.
Am I wrong?
This is a very interesting PDF on how Tesco 99 effected mpg, torque and bhp on a variety of cars tested.

interesting read and considering i own a 1.6 Zafira i might give the momentum 99 a shot an extra 230 odd miles over 3 tanks is quite a lot comparative to the extra cost of the fuel the momentum would actually work out cheaper in the long run if you did get those extra miles per tank the report claims...
I am using my car on standard shell fuel save atm. No point filling up with the good stuff whilst it's misfiring![]()
Nobody needs to, but if you get slightly better fuel economy, more power and the car is mapped for higher octane, then why not?I see absolutely no reason why you "need" to run your car on V Power.
