Sorry, this statement of Castiel's was the one I took issue with, not yours. But you're arguing that we should allow the Catholic church to do what they do because they are human beings? There was no human error in denying Catholics contraceptives, it is just wrong. Do you dispute, then, that people who have HIV or AIDS should use contraceptives to prevent the spread of disease?
Live and let live is my personal statement.....and one that you seem to not understand.
It doesnt say Kill or injure and I'll accept your right to so......it states....if you allow me to live and others to live as we choose, then we should allow you to do the same.
That doesnt imply that you can go around removing others rights or choices without me opposing you.
As for the Catholic stance on contraception in Africa.....to begin with it is widely contested within the Catholic Church itself but more importantly is what they are saying in full.....
They are stating that people should astain from sex outside of Marriage and without the express intention of having Children.....AIDS is primarliy a sexually transmitted disease, thus, if people are following what the Catholic Church are preaching (which by your acceptance that the Catholic Church is solely responsible for the lack of condom use as you believe) then they should not be having sex at all.......can you explain how, if people are following what the Catholic Church are preaching and abstaining from intercourse, how is AIDS spreading?
Personally I do not agree with the Holy See's stance on contraception....and neither do an awful lot of Catholic missions in Africa who councel the use of condoms...
The Vatican is being anachronistic in it's refusal to accept the use of condoms in AIDS ridden subsaharan Africa, I don't accept that the Church cannot change it's stance either as the encyclical Humane Vitae, 40 years ago proves, the Catholic Church is capable of altering it's moral stance on contraception.
As Cardinal of Brussels said,
"Someone who is infected with the HIV virus, and decides to have sex with an uninfected person, has to protect his partner by using a condom" almost all Western and European Cardinals working in Africa agree with him.
Not all Catholicism agrees with the Vatican, even the Pope....

Bishop Dowling, in an interview about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in South Africa said, "Abstinence before marriage and faithfulness in a marriage is beyond the realm of possibility here.* The issue is to protect life. That must be our fundamental goal."* Drawing attention to the especially difficult plight of women in the traditionally male-dominated societies of his diocese he continued, "My passion is for the women.* I'm in that corner." About the African people, he says, "They must use condoms," maintaining his stance despite the Vatican’s continued opposition to such a policy.
Following the release of a report showing that among all religious people, Catholics are the most supportive of the use of condoms for contraception and preventing sexually transmitted diseases, Mombassa Archbishop Boniface Lele said, “With some counseling—and this is something we don’t tell everyone—you can ask couples to use condoms, so that the rate of reinfection goes down.”
The Vatican’s spokesperson, Rev. Federico Lombardi, said: “I personally asked the pope if there was a serious, important problem in the choice of the masculine over the feminine. He told me no. The problem is this ... It’s the first step of taking responsibility, of taking into consideration the risk of the life of another with whom you have a relationship. This is if you’re a woman, a man, or a transsexual. We’re at the same point.”
