*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Anyone else queue for a PvP instance and get kicked top the character select screen when it starts to load the map ???

I rolled a newb Sith Marauder and have played about 50 matches today, the class is by far the hardest to play but fantastic fun and quite devastating !!

If I just run into a fight I will die very quickly. So I do not see the problem.

The whole assassin role is exactly how I play it. I pick and choose fights I time fights well. Assassins will always get murdered if they just run blindly into a fight.

Problem is that other classes that are ment to be able to run into the fight cannot, ie marauder.

The class is ment to be a dps heavy but is from seeing videos and reading around very weak in DPS due to its lack of survive skills and CC,

hopefully marauder will get a boost

I am quite annoyed by the Maintenance times thrown around for tomorrow...

It's going down from 10AM GMT to 4PM GMT and may get extended, that's during peak time during a public holiday...

Similar on republic side with Guardian/Sentinel.

Hey all, I've just installed SWTOR and registered my code on my account. However, the client says there is no active subscription on my account even though it says I have 29 days remaining?

Do I have to subscribe or something, and can I cancel it immediately so I don't get further charges as I only plan to test it for a month first with the (I assume) included month of play to see how it goes first?

I dont understand this though ? as a sin I have 3 forms of CC at the moment.
Whirlwind which has a long cast and can be interupted so if im in melee I totally will not be using that as I would get murdered standing in melee trying to cast a CC.
My electric shock thing which breaks on dmg fairly long CD (this is my most effective CC imo as a sin)
Force slow again long cast time (again can be interupted) and well it just slows ppl down useless as a sin because why would I want to slow movement speed when I am already in their grill to kill them.
Mind tap, can only be used if target is not in combat and breaks on dmg. (Sap for the WoWers :p )

Ok I then have a knockback the ground slam thing. But I would hardly call that a CC and again id rather have ppl in my melee range to hit them not knock them away.

I will note that my sin is only lvl 30 but from what I can see I dont get anymore kind of stuns or pushbacks. So as a sin am I really that OP ? I have one CC I can effectivily use while in melee as the rest have cast times.

I would prob agree that my dmg is higher than most but is that reason enough to nerf the dmg completely. The only way I get by in warzones is picking and choosing my targets go in and try kill hope I do not get over-run by backup then pull back out and do the same. If I just run into a fight I will die very quickly. So I do not see the problem.

I don't know much about the other classes at higher lvl. So I do not know how many CC's other classes have.

But from my pov. Sins are not that bad (maybe a bit high on the dmg side but then drop like a rocket if they get focused or cannot get in the first few blows) Sorc's on the other hand yea I agree fully because they stay at range they can make full use of the above CC's I meantion and that is prob far to much.

But inq sins are not a huge problem imo.

I understand your point of view however after both dishing out the damage and feeling the pain from Sins, I know they are OP. Your knockback makes you one of the most useful classes for Huttball, it is more powerful than other classes knockback and is very handy for clearing pathways etc.

Consulars/Inquisitors are almost always top of damage and/or healing in Warzones, although having high damage isn't what makes them OP. It is the utility they have, they have stealth and can tank or do some healing(Depending on advanced class), a nice range of CC's, a very handy knockback and damage superior to most other classes.

They are the jack of all trades at the moment, and the damage difference between them and the "pure DPS" classes is so little that the extra abilities makes it far easier for them to dominate.

EDIT: I find 1 on 1's to be a simple way to judge how classes shape up to each other. On my BH I was able to handle all classes(Either kill or hold out for support) apart from the Shadow/Assassin. Their incredible burst damage made it very difficult to maintain a decent amount of health and their stuns only added to the problem. I found you needed 3/4 people to down one and even then they could often pop a stun, run away and get into stealth again..

Yea man and I get that a friend of mine whos playing marauder who says the same thing. They just seem to not be able to take a few hits without dropping like a brick. Which yea I agree is not right. But imo they need to watch it cuz if they buff both their survivablity and dps then your just going to end up with another OP class that can both murder things with strong dps and cannot be killed.

I personally feel a marauder should not be able to outdps a sin because they SHOULD have better surviablity to survive running into a fight without being torn apart.

But a lot of the QQing in general seems to be they want inqs to be nerfed and warriors to be buffed. But then you hit the situation as I mentioned above you end up with the warriors being OP compared to sins. Which is not right. Because then sins will be dieing dropping like bricks with no way to counter as the only counter we have is to dps something down before we get focused on.

Yea just set up a subscription then cancel it. Then it should be fine.

That's apparantly the standard time now as well for the regular Tuesday maintenance. Won't be so bad when everyones back to work as it'll be down when we're out, but it's still a bit naff for UK / EU, yet great for US :/

taking your quote out of context a bit. But why should a BH be able to handle every class in a 1v1 situation ? surely that makes them OP ?

Inqs might be a jack of all trades but its dependant on your spec imo. For instance I cannot tank a thing in my deception spec. If a BH gets on me out in the open 9times out of 10 I will die. However if I am in stealth and get the jump on a BH I will win 9times out of 10.

I will agree tho the pushback we do have is extremely OP for hutball. I mean it is actually insane. So I could understand a nerf to that. But imo if my dps as a deception sin gets nerfed to the ground I will be useless and will not be happy. As my toon would just end up being a squishy light armored lackluster dpser.

I was planning to get this on release but have been working so much I totally forgot about it.

How is it?

Last mmo I played was wow many months ago.

Is it worth getting?

Man, have only had time to watch the intro etc but stuck at the character creation screen because I can't decide on which class to pick! I'm going to be on Frostclaw as some of you guys are and I do fancy the Sith. Played WoW for many years and was primarily on Alliance. I just love lightsabers but I also like healing as well because I like being useful and keeping groups up. My favourite classes in WoW were melee DPS such as Paladins, Warriors and Death Knights, but also healers like Priest and Druid.

Gonna have to leave it until after work tomorrow. Day off on Wednesday so I'm gonna be spending all day playing :)

I've turned everything on max, including AA to 12. Looking great so far.

Does anyone know why this happens btw or has seen it before:
