Hey People right ive hit a brick wall n brain cant decide. basicly got about £400 to play with n ive already brought a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 and 4 GB of Corsair XMS3 a while back and was planning to get a bulldozer when it came out, well that time came and past n i kinda forgot about the Mobord n ram sitting up on wallboard . n as christmas has been n that ive decided to sort mi pc out n was planning on getting a AMD 7970 when i get payed in jan n ordering a bulldozer tomoro and some other bits but now as ive been browsing the forums n that im swaying towards the i5 2500k or somthing along them lines i know intel are better performance cpu wise than AMD but ive been a bit of an AMD fanboy all these years.

now question is:

A, get a bulldozer or 1100T, ssd n somthing else

or

B, try and sell Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 and 4 GB of Corsair XMS3 (doubt i would get that much for it might just stick an apu in n make a lil pc for sis or mum) and get a nice lil 2500k bundle or somthing along those lines

ive been looking at :

Opinions and advice muchly appreciated cheers

for Gaming, n have 40 inch samsung 1920*1080 Led, 650 Psu

will be getting 7970, PSU, H100, WD black 1TB, Corsair 400R, 650D or NZXT Phantom FT all blk or white.

Save youself money and hassle and just get a CPU for the motherboard you have, I doubt you will notice the difference between what you have and sandybridge, esp if you are going to stump for a 7 series.

Just my 2 penneth worth tho.

Thanks for the replys :)
So what would you suggest i5 wise one of them bundles if so what one or can you spec somthing better for the money ?

Its burning in the back of my head now shades dont think i can look back :S haha.

From what Ive seen from benchmark scores the intel i5 and i7 processor range compared to the bulldozer AMD processors, the intel processors come out on top. If you're running a lot of multi-threaded applications Id definitely go for the bulldozer range of processors, but if your going to be doing a lot of gaming, most games only utilise 4 cores so getting a bulldozer with 6 or 8 cores some of those wont ever really be used and the bulldozer quad isnt anywhere near as good as the intel i5 2500k for gaming.

ye bulldozer isnt really competition for intel. ye just what i thought all these cores amd r flooding onto there processors are hardly being utilized by applications and games plus i think i read that they aren't fully fledged cores, they basically rushed to get the world first crap n everyone is disappointed with performance being there flagship :P. i was quite excited about amd bulldozer but ye..... Intel ... i thought why not im not going to be disappointed with my decision the performance will be unprecedented. cheers for response though dude

If you can wait, Microsoft are set to release an update for windows 7 (i assume that's what you have) that utilizes the Bulldozer CPU's better. Currently W7 does not fully function with the Bulldozer's architecture which most believe is why it performs poorly in benchmarks. There was an article about it on PC gamer a few weeks ago. it may be worth holding on to your board until this is released, and you may see a dramatic increase in performance for the Bully's.

Is it just me who is way more concerned about Ryan's ability with written English than his choice of cpu?

First please understand that I'm not trying to be mean here, I am actually trying to help you a little bit (in-case you don't realise how bad it is). Due to your written style, your posts are painful to read and some of your spelling is shockingly bad not to mention that there is a conspicuous lack of capital letters, this is basic stuff you should know. If I were you I would make it my new years resolution to sort it out.

If you are dyslexic I apologise profusely.

As to your question, well you already realise the I5 is a much better cpu than the Bulldozer at the moment, that is where I would put my money.

Pot kettle etc:D

Oh balls, I didn't see that. This is always the risk I run when making this kind of post, however my point stands. I don't claim to be perfect, we all make mistakes, but there is far more going on with Ryan's posts than typos or small grammatical errors.

My grammar , punctuation and spelling do, from time to time, leave a little to be desired but I do blame myself for this as the primary/secondary education I had was geared towards providing 'good' basics.

Not so much the case now!!

And with the use of 'texting' language(sic.) in standard post ????

In the circumstances I am not surprised that a lot of people place little, if any, importance upon grammar etc:( -

(Scary - I can hear my father/grandfather etc saying something similar to me as I type)

It's ironic really that in an age of near 24 hour communication, when people are rarely out of touch for more than a short time, an age when many people deem it important to communicate almost every little nuance of their lives ...that the standard of communication, i.e. written English in this case, should be considered less important and consequently we see it fall.

People 'should' be better at it than ever really ...but they aren't.

Was thinking about something similar yesterday. Saw an advert for the new big brother show, and thought too myself, that people know more about big brother the show than about the book 1984.

Epitomises our society.

And to be honest i just didnt bother to proofread my post as long as people understood what i was saying :). It was 1:20 in the morning and i had been up since 5. Its only a forum post im not writing a letter to the Queen. I think your being a bit fastidious and you could probably find worst posts than mine but who really cares no harm done :). Happy New Year people

What does 'ye' mean?

I didn' think I was being too fastidious really, I could be picking on posts in virtually every thread if I was been, however yours really was pretty high in the ranks of the worst I have seen in all my time on OcUK. Anyway since you don't seem bothered there isn't much more to be said on the issue. Happy new year to you too.
