Attack planed on psn over SOPA

I love how they don't say precisely what US Department Of Defense Servers they hacked lol.

You mean the one that runs windows 2000 and sits outside the firewall because its got nothing on it and not connected to anything else ?

Its technically still a "server" but not exactly anything to brag about either.

Hello, SONY.
We are Anonymous.

It has come to the attention of the Anonymous activist community that you have chosen to stand by the Stop Online Piracy Act. This act will halt online businesses and restrict access to many sites for many users. Supporting SOPA is like trying to throw an entire company from off a bridge. Your support to the act is a signed death warrant to SONY Company and Associates. Therefore, yet again, we have decided to destroy your network. We will dismantle your phantom from the internet. Prepare to be extinguished. Justice will be swift, and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not. Sony, you have been warned.

To those doubting our powers. We’ve infiltrated the servers of Bank of America, The United States Department of Defense, The United Nations, and Lockheed Martin. In one day.

For their approval to SOPA, we have also declared that our fury be brought upon the following persons. Justin Bieber. Lady Gaga. Kim Kardashian. and Taylor Swift.

Operation Blackout, engaged.
Operation Mayhem, engaged.
Operation LulzXmas, engaged.

We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.

Supporters of SOPA, you should’ve expected us.

LOL seriously? Who do these people think they are? They must think they're some grand voice of the oppressed people but they are so out of touch it's unbelievable. All "we" want is to be able to play games without idiots like this interrupting our service. :rolleyes:

:D

But on the plus side : Justin Bieber. Lady Gaga. Kim Kardashian. and Taylor Swift could do with a good rogering :)

agreed, how is attacking psn going to do anything - all they would do is annoy people who enjoy playing games.

Because the customers get annoyed with Sony, as demonstrated by the overreaction of the OP.

an over reaction maybe, but if it goes down why should i stick with a service that cant be relied upon ?

i dont want to be playing offline for any period of time unless its to do with updates, or my BB has failed.

i would rather stump up the yearly cost for live.

Presumably they think SOPA is a bigger threat to everything than they present to gamers...

I've read a bit about it, and I'm not convinced it's that bad, as yet, but I don't know really know how it would affect things. It is basically America trying to police the interweb in other countries, though, which is a bit sketchy.

Wikimedia are also hacked off about SOPA. Their domain registrars, Godaddy, came out in support of SOPA. Wikimedia immediately said that they would be moving registrars, whereupon - shock news - Godaddy came out with a revised statement saying that they would support SOPA subject to change. Wikimedia have been considering restricting or entirely blocking access to their services as part of a protest against SOPA. Can you imagine Wikipedia being down for a day? People would go mental.

If you're not yet convinced it's that bad, you probably haven't read enough of it :p

It's just the principle that this bill would affect users' web browsing experiences even if they're not in the USA. It's not just a small impact either - it could be astronomical. Take for example the .gif thread we have in General Discussion. Under the law of SOPA, the US government would have jurisdiction to order OcUK to take down the entire forum until the gifs of copyrighted material are completely removed. This is despite the fact the forum is hosted completely in the UK.

Do you want that?

Well, see, this is the sort of situation that people are outlining, but I'm not certain that is actually how it would work, or whether that isn't just a hyperbolic example to prove a point.

'Yeah I don't think it'll work like that even though I haven't looked into it' is the most infuriating response I have ever had in my life. It will literally work like that. It is incredibly simple. SOPA wants sites to have permission to host copyrighted content, and those found to be hosting copyrighted material without permission will be blacklisted.

And because you're probably going to go 'TLDR why don't you copy/paste the important bits', here's an adequate summary of SOPA that's easy to digest;

If that infographic isn't enough, here's another video explaining SOPA;
