Its exactly the same. You have an equal chance of getting anything that you would through doing an achievement, only without the chance of getting another coal.

Knew i shouldn't have crafted it. I just crafted 7 coal and got.......nothing. sweet.

Oh wow, what a waste of time. It turns out i got a TF2 B.M.O.C hat.

I already had one from just loading the game this morning so i now have 2.
What a load of rubbish, 1 hat from 7 coals when people are getting complete packs?!
