Oh mr purple, is that why my laptop is broke?

7,000 posts get a life son.
And no I won't go checking for missing ram as it should be working as it was when I left it.
I can guarantee I know more about computers than you.
Xmas eve on here winding people up sad little boy.

You were the one who posted a story. Do you want to give us the answer too?

Plus this thread fails from the start, you failed to provide screenshots.

Random question, if you were standing there minding your own business and can hear someone that doesn't know a thing about computers ext getting ripped off. Would you tell them?

I did once in the purple shop. Guy was telling an old couple that they should pay 70 extra to get xp pro if they were going to use the internet and a printer as xp pro is the right software to have if you plan on using the computer to connect to things and xp home is just for stand alone computers.

To be fair Samsung do claim power usage of about 50w for that telly and they do have a better picture for SD. Given that they (your parents) had nothing connected via HDMI they probably didn't need 1080p ;)

You might know that but I doubt the bloke did!

My uncle jim does any surgery you want for a tenner if you ever need it ;)

Made me chuckle! :D

Should have known better, however... I cannot believe that they would say such things about the RAM. It's something someone might say on Rogue Traders!

1. You bought a laptop from the Purple place
2. You took it back to them to fix it
3. You took it back to them AGAIN to fix it
4. You posted your story on here

4 fails, 1 thread.

I see one of my friends posting all the time on Facebook about how her laptop never works, so has that aftercare insurance thingy from the purple place and it took them 1 month to even look at her laptop, then they lost it and sent her a replacement, probably her fault for not backing up but still....

Should have got a mac. lol

This, tbh...

Also [flamebait]macs don't get viruses[/flamebait]

Tis a well known 'fact' so the purple shirt types wouldn't likely have tried to blame a 'virus' for your hardware fault. (assuming there is a hardware fault)

in windows task manage > resource meter > memory is it showing as hardware reserved?
it will be the gpu hogging it if thats the case.

try updating the gfx card drivers or resetting the laptop back to factory settings via whatever resetore option they have (even if it says make your own restore disks they will still have a hidden partion on the hdd that lets it be restored to how it was when you bought it)

So much fail. So much it hurts.

Does the OP even understand how modern operating systems use memory? Does the OP understand that memory in laptops is user replaceable and thus does not invalidate the warranty.

Finally lol Acer and lol at the Apple haters comments.

OP said:
This can cause you too lose 2gb of ram. All his friends agreed.

Yes of course it can
( sat here online, no virus check because it's a waste )

Exactly, as long as you know what you're downloading you don't need a virus checker at all

indeedy, although clearly if OP needs to moan about the fact he went to that place in the first place, he's quite a few lifetimes off simple info such as this lol
Adblock and no script, check and check :D

I love the purple shop, but not to shop, for shenanigans!,

many a time going in with someone who was browsing around, stand near a system with bemused and puzzled look,

wait for onslaught of uneducated fools, pretend to be in awe of every specification they throw at you, no matter how dumb they sound,

then the clincher, inform them just about everything they said is wrong,

of course its utterly mean and totally pointless but so are the sales staff.

Oh and the 'can I help sir?' retort 'I don't know, can you?', simply brilliant at sending them walking away with puzzled looks.

Must admit though people who ive been unable to convince to go elsewhere I have gone with them to help them choose and saved them from the unscrupulous sales staff. Let the staff lay out every detail and then torn apart everything they said that was wrong. Even had them open a system up so I could check what was in there a few times as the specs were wrong and I had to prove it to them. Or on the other hand I just wanted to see the system had a decent enough mobo. Never won any friends from the staff but won friends who bought from there a few discounts.
