Steam Christmas Sale 2011

Why does it 'make you wonder'? Valve have always heavily discounted there own games. Not to mention people who got the Golden Potato before the launch got a FREE valve complete pack INCLUDING Portal 2. With preorder and 2-pack deal I got it cheap, after selling the free copy the game cost me less than a few quid at launch.

Oh yeah I'm fully aware of how much a discount you can get on Valve's games on Steam (I got The Orange Box for £2!). What makes me wonder is it worth waiting to pick up something like Portal 2 in the first instance or wait until it's as cheap as possible (for example it was one of the few good things I got out of the gift pile).

Not bought one thing! Thought it was going to end up like this:

Some of you have no self control.. I didn't buy anything in this sale because I already have many games that I've yet to even play on STEAM :p
:D
Not about having no self control, we bought games we WANT. Yes we have massive backlogs but hey I fully intend to play all these games, I got like 30 games + DLC for the £113 I spent, that's like 6 console games, I fully intend to play these games, even if it takes me years

No you won't. Because if you bought 10 games, in the next sale you will buy another 10, and then another 10, then the next Skyrim is out, which will take most of your playing time, and remain with 25 games.

Final Damage Report:

Terraria - £2.99 (Bought before it went on sale, but during the sales, woops)
Blur - £3.74
Wings of Prey - £2.49
Aaaaaaa! Awesome (Gifted to me from my clan, so no cost) - £0.00
Assassin's Creed II: Deluxe Edition
Tomb Raider: Underworld - + AC2 = £6.23 in total
Civilization V - £6.79
L.A. Noire - £8.74
Skyim - £23.44

Total Damage: £54.42

Recommending Orcs Must Die! still for anyone on the fence.

You don't need the DLC really, one of them has some extra maps (which I have not played yet, there are 24 maps in the main campaign). The other has some extra traps, the only decent one is the floor scorcher, which I don't really use much anymore anyway.

I've just picked up Skyrim, Bastion and AC2 for £31 so go me! :)

Was almost tempted by Street Fighter, but wont pay more than £10 as I have the older version on PS3.

The damage isn't too bad from other games, but I am very happy with what I picked up.

Bought:

Wings of prey
Fallout 3
Probably get deus ex

Also got given portal 2 and won DNF . Should keep me going until ME3 is out

I moved house over the break and have only managed to pick up Skyrim when I took my PC to the folks house and logged in.

Unable to login using a 3g dongle to Steam (understandable) but the website also :(

Would love to grab Bastion and Deus Ex today grrr.

Oh well when a game hits tha xmas sale no doubt it will be in a daily etc later in the year...

I'm still undecided about Skyrim: buy now for £24 or wait for a larger price drop. I still have about 3 games to complete right now :D

New to steam this year(or so I thought, forgot I setup an account to play HL:2) so after installing Skyrim on christmas day I ended up getting the following in the sale

X3 TC
X3 Prelude
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Space Pirates & Zombies
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Deus Ex: HR - Tactical Enhancement Pack
Deus Ex: HR – The Missing Link

Im wondering this as well, if this drops to £20 or below in the next few months id rather wait, i plan to upgrade and in that time there may be an update or better mods about and i have plenty to play at the moment.
