Few years ago i got into Photography, bought a lot of Camera Gear & use to go out everytime i had time off work to take pictures, use to love going places like the Lakes, Ben Nevis ect.

As from about a year ago I gave it all up, just couldn't find the time anymore due to work ect or any motivation like i once had, just go out and take pictures, so sold every bit of my gear.

Over the years i must have spent thousands on bodies, lenses, accessories, software ect.

So a year on do i miss not having a decent camera to hand, no not at all and my photo's are now taken with my smartphone, & just viewed on my PC these days.

Will i ever get back into Photography like i once was, maybe but not for the next few years at least.

So have you ever given up on a hobby you was once passionate about?

Funnily enough, PC gaming.

I find the entire industry quite stale at the minute (not to say all the games are poor) and the communities seem, much more 'difficult' for lack of a better word.

Those put me off, I still enjoy gaming but do it much more casually now.

Pistol shooting, but that was more through being 'Nanny stated' than personal choice.

Funny enough that was one of the things that started putting me off Photography.

I was down by my local canal with my D300 on a Tripod sat on the bank, quite near a family pub, when some parent shouted across hope your not taking pictures of our kids with that!!!

Even though the camera wasn't even pointing anywere near the pub, but looking down towards the Marina.

All i could see was eyes from across the way constantly watching me i eventually said sod this to myself packed up and went home.

That actually started to get me paranoid taken a camera out in a public place after that.

When i first started out back in 2001, nobody would bat an eyelid when they saw ya with a camera.

Skateboard, Scouting, Ju Jitzu, Swimming

I just grew out of all of them,

Got too old for scouting
Got to black belt in Ju Jitzu
Got all my swimming badges, moved on to lifesaving and got all my certificates for that too

Nitro RC cars. Became a money pit and got annoyed with temperamental engines. Might get a 1/5 Baja one day, 2 stroke is a bit easier to deal with.

That and Mame cabinet building, although that's just on the back burner.

Warhammer. Just grew out of it. I still have it all as a memento though. Prepared to sell my White Dwarf mags for lots of cash though (when I get around to researching how much they are worth)!

I had cartlidges removed from my knees and had to give up football 25 years ago.
Got to black belt status and gave up Karate.
Gave up parachute jumping.
I've given up road running.

Hobbies I gave up on:

Airguns - Boring, expensive.
R/C Cars (Nitro, electric)- Boring, Expensive.
Kung Fu- Injuries, no time anymore really enjoyed this.
Kickboxing- See above.
Football- Injuries and Age.
Working on Cars- Extremely boring, even worse as all but one of my houses has off street parking and a garage, and I dont live in that one, so its extremely boring, and wet and cold and uncomfortable.

On Hold:
Motorbikes: Dont have one at the minute, looking to buy another in the next few months and take it back up.

"Hobbies" I still have:

PC builing/gaming/fixing- Still enjoy anything to do with the "fun" side of PC's.
Console Gaming.
Home Cinema
Gardening.
