Hi there

Well we've been anticipating this card for quite a long time now and stock is finally due to arrive with ourselves next week. So this is now available for pre-order. Its very very expensive but its not only the fastest GTX 580 out of the box it also has the best overclocking potential of any GTX 580 currently available and should even surpass the legendary MSI GTX Lightning XE card too.

EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card @ £499.99 inc VAT

Extreme overclockers Vince "k|ngp|n" Lucido and Illya "TiN" Tsemenko are not satisfied with the overclocking capabilities of current generation graphics cards. They want overclocking capabilities and performance that exists beyond what is traditionally considered enthusiast level. To overcome this, they began to work with EVGA on designing a new card from the ground up that is 100% focused on being the single fastest and greatest overclocking card on the block. This was accomplished with the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified.

This card features a 14+3 Phase Power Design that can deliver over 1000W of power, and the redesigned cooling solution with an 8CM fan improves efficiency by as much as 30% (compared to the standard cooler). The NEC Proadlizer, Super Low ESR SP-Cap capacitors, and high frequency 3MHz shielded inductors provide clean and precise voltage control, and the onboard voltage probe points lets you monitor them with ease. Of course, full support for the EVGA EVBot means that you can overclock and monitor your card on the fly, and a special OC BIOS enables extreme overclocking mode.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified is engineered and designed to perform for everyone, from gamers to the top overclocking enthusiasts in the world. The dual slot top cooled design means that you do not need to worry about space or motherboard layout limitations, and this card supports everything from single card up to 4-way SLI out of the box

Looks like an 8800 Ultra.

Which is a good thing.

Doubt it will beat a 7970 though, even if I want it for SLi. It may be able to keep up with my 580 :)

Love that the blurb talks about delivering up to 1000 W power and it then says in the features lower power consumption compared to GTX 480, only 244 watts :D

i think all the plugging of the new AMD cards will mean very few people will go for this. EVGA do make the best cards imo though.

Hi Gibbo, so what do you recommend, this card or the 7970 that's coming?. Hmmm choices, choices...................... only pulling your leg as I know the answer will be a "50/50 buy all my cards" answer :D.

Would like to see under the hood of that cooler to see what has been fiddled with.

This doesn't seem like it's going to sell a single one unless someone REALLY hates AMD/ATI and has £500 to *****.

I guess its too much to ask for the same level of testing of this card as you did with the 7970 cards ?

Be interesting to see how it stacks up in real world gaming rather than pointless benchmarks ;)

It's been out for ages just not in the Uk till recently, they even do a Classified Ultra now, these are made for severe overclocking enthusiasts not just general gamers and thats why they can take 1000w.

This card "can" match the 7970, but only if we are talking about crazy voltage and cooling (think the max overclock that was achieved on this was around 1,600MHz on the core clock...but of course the amount of power consumption and the special insane cooling method isn't for everyday uses :P).

Either way, too late a launch to UK with 7970 around the corner.
