This isn't a direct religion bashing thread, but I just thought I would share my experience so far.

Currently I'm trying to revise for a uni exam on Earth History and Evolution. I thought I would watch a few youtube clips to get the cogs of my brain moving. I found that 8/10 videos on youtube are bible bashing creationism muppets who make videos to try to press their views on everybody else. The same with websites.

Its had the effect of many books and articles completely skip chemical evolution and prebiotic chemical synthesis purely so they don't offend the creationists.

Now I don't mind if people believe in creatinism, but for God's sake (no pun intended), I wish they would stop trying to shove it in everyones faces all the time.

Creationism is a Christian belief.

If you look at the number of Christians in the world, and then within that you analyse the number of Christians who actually believe in creationism, it's not really that many people.

I haven't really found that Creationists are shoving it in my face. My biology teacher is a fundamentalist lol

but thats the thing, for such a small group of people who bellieve in it with every fibre of their body, they make such a loud noise about it.

Its like small man syndrome....... :)

Despite being a Christian who attends church pretty much every week, I have not met anyone who has extolled creationism. I'm sure I must know creationists but I certainly haven't experienced anyone shoving it my face.

Depends what country, in America they are trying to get it taught alongside science

We see it more on the internet because there's more Americans on the internet than there are in the average UK town/city :p

Most moderate people of faith accept evolution as a fact in my experience. I've often heard Richard Dawkins on youtube saying that priests, cardinals etc in the most part accept evolution as a fact also. Creationists are like a fringe minority with a loud voice. Loud enough in America to try and have Creationism taught in schools INSTEAD of evolution. That to me, is shoving it in your face. Children have the right to be taught what is empircally true about the world. Not superstion that has no basis in reality.

40% of Americans are creationists. Personally I don't think I could live in America, perhaps in a northern city but otherwise the country is just far too religious for my liking. A lot of republicans are homophobic, hypocrites and liars. And use their religious beliefs to attract voters. I don't have any affinity for the Democrats either but I can tell you that they are not that bad. The day the republicans come in power, will be the day that America looses its freedoms.

no, 40% of a tiny group of people from a small (probbaly carefully selected region and demographic) area who didn't successfully manage to dodge the bloke with the clipboard in the street said they were creationists.

According to Genesis, God created Adam and Eve who begat Cane and Abel.

After Cane killed Abel, he was banished from the Garden of Eden and went to live in a far away land where he fathered several children, despite there being no other people on Earth at the time.

Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted Dec. 10-12, 2010, with a random sample of 1,019 adults, aged 18 and older, living in the continental U.S., selected using random-digit-dial sampling.
So you were incorrect.

I'm posting this video purely for entertainment purposes:

:p

Just pay them no heed, same with the vocal atheists who try and shove their "no God" warcry down your throat. Equally annoying in my opinion.

I'm quite happy to let people just get on with their own beliefs, why some people have to make such a fuss about what does or does not exist or happen is beyond me. you're happy in your beliefs, they're happy in theirs, why you got to fight over who's wrong or right?

There's more important things to worry about in life.

Oddly enough, its the atheists who try and force their ideas on other people who annoy me more than the religious people who do so. I'm not quite sure why, I guess its because at least the religous type think they have a reason to "spread the word", their God commands them to, on the other hand atheists don't, they just don't seem to like people having their own beliefs, the vocal ones anyway.

Myself? I'm not religious. I don't see the point in worrying about it either. You'll find out when you die, why stress over it now!? :D

When the Bible describes Jesus' lineage, it only lists the men. It's like a family tree but with no mention of the mothers.

Male/female equality is a very modern thing. The Bible may not mention the daughters of Adam and Eve, but logic dictates they would have daughters.
