Racist? Should Diane Abbott resign?

For a House stuffed full of thieves and war criminals, it's hard to get a sense of what is punishment these days.

Pretty much true any place you go its inescapeable these days and mobidly amusing watch the rest of a society too distracted chasing the breadcrumbs that have fallen off their table to notice.

but this will just sidetrack the theard so lets not go there. :D

I have to say I'm confused as to why people are so damn sensitive.

It's simple really. There's an army of white apologists who think that they have to be offended on behalf of black people. As soon as someone even mentions that someone has a different colour of skin than your average white person, somebodys greydar goes off and they are instantly offended.

Which only helps racsim to exist in society.

Meh, this a little bit but..at the end of the day she's apologised and i never really took any real personal offence anyway. Live and let live at this point..

I think its more the perceived notion that if someone white had said something perceived to be racist about a black person, they would have been sacked.

Meh. She should be sacked for several reasons.

What I find interesting is that most of the people on here only class her as racist because we know that if this were said by a white person the media and some black people within the public eye would be outraged.

Most of you seem to be annoyed at the double standards more than anything else.... And not her racial views!

They go hand in hand to be honest. I'm just not bothered because I don't get offended at every tiny little thing like some people seem to.

Correct. Thats the camp I'm in...I couldnt care less about what she said, but in the spirit of equality and taking down the barriers between races i want her sacked just like any white person would be....

And thats the point I'm making. A fuss is appears to be being made because things would be very different if the tables were turned.

I just find the attitude that "blacks should stick together against those white devils" is not that helpful for race relations in our multicultural society (the general theme of some of what she says).

It's pretty insulting to black people to assume they are some "collective group" just because they happen to share the same skin colour.

I don't associate with people who are part of some wider "white group", because I hate most people full stop (regardless of colour) - I associate with people who are of a similar mindset/interests.

Thank you. However, the British media (and PMs) have you believe (or love to assume) that things are a lot worse.

Its even more insulting when some of these figures act as if they speak for the entire black race in england/uk/gb

Well, yeah, I think that's pretty clear. What she said is much more tame than a lot of stuff I've heard said about people of all races. In this case it's the hypocrisy that's by far my biggest concern.
