£3000 spec for a Rig

Well I must say I am disappointed in badboy (or is that BaDBoy is that better for you)
That you would make such off hand comments with any knowledge or the real world outside your dark little room you live in. Thought this was a forum for people to share knowledge and info with those that need it. I do pity your sad little world if the only input you put toward this thread is to show your own insecurities and sad disappointed way of looking at the world of those around you that are able to spend money on things they want.
If you are not going to offer any real help and info like quite a few people have already then please don’t post.
Saying that will agree with your first half of point two, yes I do have a limited knowledge of computer jargon, and have expressed this in my posts and when I have been asking for help info for things to look at. So what is your point here unless I know all the abbreviation, jargon of this and that and how to do all these short cuts “putting a: next to a p” that I am not serious on the information that I am trying to find out.
So it begs the question is that what trolling is from your dark little cave you call home, if so please crawl back into it.
Cleeecooo yes I am trying to do my research and have found quite a lot of help from the links and info you have given me so far. What’s wrong with the fact that I have some money and am happy to build a rig that I will be able to play games on and will be good for many years to come? Thought this was a community of like-minded people some who know a lot more about computer than other and are happy to share that knowledge.
As for a build log, yes there will be one, Shayper has made the offer to help with the build of this Rig and if I did get OcUK to build it would ask that they do something for me to share with all here.
Worse case is I would have an attempt myself as from what I am reading so far getting a good grasp of what is required
And finally to say that just because your wear a suit and carry a briefcase does not mean you are clever. There are plenty of jobs out there that pay good money that don’t require A levels. Look at some business owner in the celebrity eyes these days.
So to summaries thanks for all those that has been helping with this thread and to those others well …

Are you totally set on watercooling? I think it might be more beneficial if you stick to air cooling as the setup and maintanence can be fairly tricky. It's very nice of shayper to help you, but what happens if you spring a leak a week in, you can't call him round every couple of days to keep tweaking things.

You can get an absolute monster of a pc without watercooling and you won't have to touch it maintanence wise for years.

I have no problem with you spending money on a rig.

What I'm saying is that you seem to be going for the most expensive things for no reason. Basically, you are wasting a lot of cash and before pressing the buy button you need to do a LOT more reading.

I think you should start on air, then watercooling later.

Hi Scon, as I have said in the OP I have a budget for a top end machine and as I don’t know very much about the specs these days, so wanted to see what info I can find out and you guys can tell me and follow other build logs and threads, have learnt loads the last week or so.
Do I really need to know the speed of this and the speed of that if I want to be able to play games on it in great detail now and for the next few years?
Posted this originally in the General Hardware section, it was suggested I come over to water-cooling and have it put together there from what I want to be doing, gaming with an Eyefinity set up.
Think I have it set what hardware I need just looking at the cooling side of it now. So any help welcome
Cheers

With going for a chiller unit would that be instead of the Rads ?

yes it would
if you are going for up to 4 graphics cards unless you want rads everywere with loads of fans that require a fan controller and a absolute massive case to house it in then chiller is the way.....

but i do agree with the others you need either a crap load of money to pay somebody to maintain your rig and build or the knowledge to do it yourself, this knowledge is gained over years of building and maybe failing then tweaking and making better, maybe seeing a drip causing your heart to miss a beat etc etc etc...you cant really buy that.....i could see why you would want an absolute beast but maybe walk before you run for a bit.

also i suggested a chiller to you 20-30 posts ago and you didnt have the decency to give me a reply....people dont get paid for dispensing advice on here mate...remember mannors cost nothing :)

Well it would be a lot easier if you gave us a budget of the cooling bit and what rads you could fit!

Also, do you have ANY programmes which will actually utilise a 6 core CPU?
If not, go for a cheaper CPU and then spend more on an SSD or something else

Thanks Cleeecooo, thats what I spec'd a 2700k. x79 has bragging rights, but will you use it? For that you could add a revo drive....
Theres no need for a chiller. Chances of condensation, this is an amazing machine anyway doesn't need to be clocked so high.

Hi Cleeecooo
one of the main reason i have been posting here is to get help on th epoint wher ei will be wasting money, for the return i will be getting.
yes have been looking at the higher end as thought that would be the better build quality and would be better for the long run.
As i have said help is requied, want to run games now and for a while on high setting to get the most of my game play time. Am reading loads of other threads along the way and can see that heat is going to be something to look at hence watercooling option. Feel free if you think i should not go for the x79 board and 3930 processor, just thought that if i was going to buy buy the best i can . what do you think?
cheers

What will you be doing on this computer? Gaming? Encoding? Hacking into the US DB? (Joke :p). Cleeecoooo bought a 3930 because his a

Because he games and he likes the new stuff. If you want 3930 get it. But I don't think its what its talked upto be. Its so expensive for what it is. I think your good with your 2700k and Tri-Fire 6870s.

I think that you should stick to a 2700K and get a revodrive instead.

Alternatively, give the money to me... Can't blame a guy for trying :D:p

The 3930K will only really be utilised if you can use quad channel RAM, play FSX, are a benchmark junkie or do a lot of 3D rendering.

I think what you should do is get a 2700K, Asus rmapage board, EVGA gfx cards, and a lartge case. Then air cool your rig.

Once air cooled, keep it that way for a few months/weeks and carry on doing research. You may be happy wih air cooling in which case the liquid option would ba a waste.

If not, then everything is ready to be watercooled. Just do a bit more research and you can stick everything under water!

do this
you could have a rig in a few days this way ;)

Hi cammy5477, sorry for not responding , my bad, did look at the chiller unit and it was massive, still finding threads on it and looking to find out more about it.
cheers

yes there is in the wrong hands (a 5 year old)
it can replicate your rads with ease (no condensation)
or it can go as low as you want it to? (up to dew point no condensation)
mine is at 10c and my room is 21c and im still fine with great temps in my rig.

it is for the extreme user thats for sure but the guys spending 3k with 4 cards...almost seems rude not to buy one :D

click my link in my sig rockyon ;)

EDIT - its not to big but its defo better if you can house it in a different room or under the floor like me.

ROFL! I go it because I currently get 15 FPS in FSX :(

Did plenty of research and a 990X gave a 20FPS improvement. Just think of what a 3930K beast would do :D

D5 :D

Use black fluid with the plexi blocks as it looks better than acetal IMO

i would change out that asrock board for the asus maximus 4 or the gigabyte sniper 2.
great extras and fantastic for overclocking
