7970 prices

why is everyone complaining?

rough price of a radeon 7970 = £480

rough price on a gtx580 3 gig version = £480

the radeon beats the the 580 and is the fastest single gpu card on the market....

so why all the whinging...........if its too expensive tough.....

i bet they are flying off the shelves at ocuk head quarters.....

No cheap ones in stock but plenty of expensive ones, seems to be the same everywhere, can't say I'm suprised.

That price doesn't seem anywhere near close. Did you actually shop around?

I think the problem is not so much the price, but that some retailers are taking much bigger liberties with the amount they are putting on top.

The difference in price between retailers does not look good on the more expensive one's. Especially when you sometimes see boasts about the amount of stock some get in comparison to others, but they are still more expensive. Maybe it's to do with the buyers at each company?

Because of the stark difference in both price and performance gain compared to the 5870 launch.

Oh be quiet.

At today's exchange rates, the launch price of the 5870 would be rather similar.

Everyone moaning is just butthurt that they can't afford one. I can't, and I'm gutted :D

Luckily I got a golden 580, so I'm happy :)

Not that I would buy one but I'm thinking up to £450 then these cards are worth it due their high specs and being the fastest GPU out there, so yeah It's no surprise to see these prices on release.

Can't be bothered, elsewhere they just raised their prices 10% now that does take the ****

At least OcUK are consistent with their pricing and set the market this morning :)

What you mean they were cheaper first thing and now they have realised they are selling they have put the price up?

lol if so.

Tempted by the £420 ocuk one but i'm going to try and be strong and hold out until the non reference cooler cards come out in a couple of months

Same here. My stupidity sense is tingling at the moment but I'm resisting.

Things could look a whole lot better in a few weeks.

Still amusing how people seem to think that the launch of a new card in very limited supply will mean that prices are anything other than extortionate.

It's like they somehow expect retailers to sell these things at cost price or something, when they are clearly going to sell regardless at their current price.

If you wan't to complain about pricing, look at your fellow man who is buying them in spite of the price, those people who moan about the price but buy them anyway. Those are the people who are sustaining these sorts of prices, because it's the price the market is willing to bear.

(not a reflection on OCUK persay - all retailers are the same, supply & demand yadda yadda)
