So the 7970 prices are too damn high! I'm going to put a 6950 in my new build and wait until Kepler.

Do any of the 6950s unlock any more? The reviews for this one seem to say it unlocks, but obviously the reviews are old. Otherwise, what 6950 would most likely achieve decent clocks?

The Sapphire Toxic use to have a switch to unlock extra shaders and speeds, not sure about that Dual Fan version. To be honest you should select a 2GB 6950 at £200 and save the money and not worry about small increases of clock speeds other cards may have.

Get the best of all worlds:

MSI HD6970 TFIII - £263.99 on TWO.

Basically a Lightning model (same PCB and components) but doesn't have the stock OC (a 5 minute job in MSI afterburner).

Considering the features and the package it is better than the GTX570 at the same price point.

Yeah, just saw that. Considering it!

I think everyone is missing the point, the OP needs something to last till Nvidia's latest offering or maybe till the 7 series comes down a lot in price.

A £200 6950 will be fine.
