** ATI 7970 NOW IN STOCK & AVAILABLE!! **

Well, was tempted for a few minutes - then decided to look at benchmarks again, and figured it just wasn't worth the cost, and will wait for after Kepler release before moving on GPU's.

Have fun all those who bought :)

Cracking selection. Well done! Non-reference cards from day 1, what more can one expect!

Once the waterblocks are out - 2 will be checked-out by me!

damn, over 400 for reference cards not much faster than a 580?? these prices are insane imo

they aren't to be honest. A decent 580GTX is still £380. For £40 more you can buy a card that is faster at stock and overclocks like an absolute devil.

im just talkign about regular 580's and you can easily get good aftermarket for 350 mark.
looking at reviews, for a reference card these prices are just maddness imo.
i remember when 4870x2 come out, i bought one on release day for £320, agahagh what am i whining for anyways, enthusiast will pay whatever it takes

When they stop selling :D Which they probably wont as they will soon be the only source of stock.

Yeah true and OCUK will then rake it in on the premium :D.

I want one but a 6950 for Crossfire and PSU is cheaper (about £300), I've never used SLI or Crossfire either though.

Don't know what to do.

Looking at your sig, I think you can wait longer for a upgrade, wait to see what Nvidia bring later in the year or the prices of these new cards should reduce by then.

XFX ATI Radeon HD 7970 "Black Edition" 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card @ £559.99 inc VAT

this one is insane :D

They all have the same stock clocks, stock coolers (which looks horrible imo) and they all look exactly the same with even the same colors.

Why are they so different in price?

Why are my stonewashed G-Star Raw jeans significantly more expensive than other pairs of jeans?

You pay for the brand.

Thank you Stulid.

I think I'll take your advice. I thought I was having problems in BF3 but it seems what I thought was 18-25FPS was actually 44-48FPS in certain areas. This was at 1900x1200 post high AA, everything ultra except shadows on high, 16xAF and HBAO on.

When I ran it on Auto settings in BF3 it set everything to high, no AA and only texture quality was on Ultra. I had the same slowdowns but as I didn't have anything showing me the frames I thought it was hitting about 18-25FPS as the change from facing in certain directions went from 80-90FPS to about 44-48FPS. When I enabled render.drawfps 1 I seen my card was performing as it should.

So Stulid. Would adding another 6950, or selling my current 6970 and buying the 7970 when pricing is normalised change the FPS drops I'm having in BF3?. Well not if it would, do you think it would?.

Oh the lulz. Powercolor on a large american site for $549. After conversion etc and 20% they should be about £425, so UK retailers adding on about 50 quid.

Enjoy it while you can AMD, Nvidia will be along soon to put you in your place.
