M4 Vs Corsair

Strange Monday was not available.

Reason I was asking as that makes it only £6.51 cheaper than OcUK (with free delivery for forum members)

£6.51 is still cheaper :)

I also added a harmony 300 remote into the order at £15 and didn't want to wait a week for that. So all in all I still saved a few quid.

The one thing that makes me buy more from the other place is they collect RMA's. Unlike overclocks where you need to post them or arrange collection yourself. I once had to send back the HTPC Opera case... which is large to say the least.

However, for everything else... they're bang on and reply to web contact much sooner than the other place.

Might have another 128 coming that i ordered on 30 dec for 128£, just had an email saying a dispatch date but dont know if it will come, thought it got cancelled!

Whoops

Post up some Youtube videos of some everyday usage tasks with the Raid0 action :D When Intel release the new RST drivers that support Trim in raid. I'll consider it also... mainly for the capacity over the speed though.

Made a backup of my old vertex 2e x2 raid 0 today... trying to transfer it onto the M4... isn't playing ball. Going from Raid to AHCI is posing a problem. Leaving it in Raid also wasn't working, even after creating a raid driver disk from my motherboards support page!!

Disaster. I refuse to reinstall!!!!

i will do, think i will wait for both to come before i attempt anything, thats if i dont send one of the orders back, hmm,

i really am not looking forward to reinstall, have used acronis successfully up until now, dont think it will work with hdds to ssd!

I will never use windows backup again!! After 6 hours. 100 failed attempts at trying to get it to work using every trick in the book. I'm biting the bullet and doing a reinstall.:mad:

Acronis is 100 times better for technical backups. I would stick to that.

It will work... but your best to do a fresh install. Windows need to know it's an SSD.

yes i think i will do a fresh install thi time and then back it up after i have everything just right, thats what i did before, thats a days work on my pc lol grr, its all the updating that takes the time, when you have a 20-50KBps internet connection things take time!

Did you get it up and running? What's your first impressions of the M4?

I did indeed. I should have did a reinstall much sooner rather than clinging on.

I can't comment on it's everyday usage as of yet. Not installed anything on it yet or had a proper play.

I should note I am also only working on a SataII motherboard. I've not moved with the times as of yet. Queue monster build in April/May :D

I did run an "AS SSD" bench and received something around 550... forget exact number.

Will report back with proper first impressions soon if you like.
