**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

Woop, I just thought the keyboard issue was something to do with WP, only happened a handful of times but was quite a nuisance.

Can I ask like on the iPhone they have the iCloud for 'sync' with contacts e.t.c.

What does the Nokia Lumia use? Is it just hotmail or something daft like that?

I just sync my contacts from my google account, or it has an ability to transfer contacts from another phone via bluetooth, not sure how well this would work with most phones though.

My Lumia has arrived today :D After a very long day at work all I've done is slap it on charge, I will set it up tomorrow but is there anything you recommend I do first?

Software updates?
Something about checking battery capacity?

Anything you guys recommend, I'll do, before I start using it. Looks a nice phone, should be a nice upgrade from my 2 and a bit year old N86 which I've still not managed to kill!

Only recommend what you might already do, have Zune player ready and working on your pc and perhaps once the battery is charged plug it to the Pc and Zune should fine the latest update, I doubt in the laters ones people will get any with the battery issue, but just have the update done anyways, after that.....enjoy!

You can put the latest firmware / debrand the handset without the use of Zune, if you use the Nokia Care Suite. However, it requires factory restore to update it.

Two general tips:

If you're importing contacts from live or google make sure your contacts are tidied up and spend some time linking them all with facebook/twitter on the phone in the people hub.

In Zune on your desktop add the podcasts you want to subscribe to. Send them to your phone then delete them all. On your phone then subscribe to them all in zune and voila your phone will now do all the work.

1600.2483.8107.11501 - also resolves the battery issues, as it now shows 1500 mah. The UK firmware should be up on Nokia servers and filter down through Zune shortly.

One weird thing I have noticed with the new firmware.

In the brightness setting, when you have low or automatically adjust the back, windows and search keys are illuminated.

However, when set to medium or high these keys are not illuminated.

Is this the same on the old firmware?

Bet you it is hard to get used to when you have had an Android / iPhone device. Especially with the new touch interfaces.

As above, it's by far the most user friendly but engaging phone experience I've ever had, and I've owned one or two android phones, Symbian, wp6.5 (most except iOS).

I can't put it better than Stephen Elop does, the OS just ties everything together in a way that makes smartphones more accessible.

I'd say this was more of a True mobile phone rather than a smartphone, it does the same things, but it just seems far far easier to do.

I have to say I am very impressed with my Lumia 800! It is so fluid, I am so glad I chose this over an android or iphone handset! Really like how it works and it's mega simple, it's so easy to find what you're after for general usage.

It works so well, is very fast/smooth and I'm gonna grow to like this one! Only had a quick play but feeling at home already.

I will do the software update when I get time at the weekend.

How do I check the battery capacity at the mo? Also, how can I copy phone numbers back onto the new sim for backup purposes? I aren't going to integrate loads of accounts together, I'm gonna keep facebook as it's own entity, same with other social networking stuff I use and keep the phone numbers as just that.

At least for now :)

I must be blind, I can't see a way of doing it lol.

Sussed the battery thing, 1503mah so thats ok.

So after you've charged yours up overnight and disconnect it, does your present charge value show 1503?

I can't seem to charge mine to over 1300 despite showing 1503 max.

I get the same mate, sometimes with the same settings and no tasks open It'll say with battery saver on 24 hours charge remaining, but I seem to be getting 15 now.

I even had 1 day 2 hours at one point, I just don't get what's going on with the battery.

Phone @ 55% after being charged to 99% 6 hours ago, and that's only after using texting and visiting some websites on wifi. I didn't think it would be this bad :|. the battery drains quite a lot on standby as well.

I'll charge it fully again and report back once I've checked.

One STUPID thing I can't believe isn't supported is being able to bluetooth pics etc to another phone. I just assumed by default that it'd do that! :D
