Virgin Media increasing broadband speeds by 20 - 200% starting February

I couldn't care less about increased speeds to be honest, increased limits before throttling on the other hand is where I'm at :D

Don't get me wrong, this is welcome news but I'm another who still hasn't seen their upload upgrade yet, April 2012 the pdf says. Doesn't exactly bode well for these download upgrades, Mid-2013 if I'm lucky I expect! :o

they might as well do the work at the same time.... yeah right, like that'll happen.:D

connected via aztec west i assume? same as me.

Ha!

That will be a waste of time...I have 100mb and am lucky to get 50mb most of the time. Besides if 50mb is going to 100mb and 100mb is going 120mb then I am downgrading back to 50mb.

Same for me, i am currently on the 50mb package, so i suspect that i will just downgrade to the 20mb and wait for the upgrade.

I wish they would sort out their other issues such as over subscription in certain areas first rather than try to always be the fastest provider.

Quality over quantity is better for me.

meh not much difference for me as im already on 50mb with no throttle....i doubt I will care about 100mb.

no point downgrading for me simply because of the throttle limits.

Bah, they still aren't rolling out fibre to the house where I live, the town a mile down the road has it but not us. Only BT's Infiniti fibre to the cabinet.

ohh booo hooo, you can "only" get FTTC. some pepole will love to be able to get it.

I'm pleased that it's happening (Not able to get Virgin or Infinity here) but it annoys me that just doing this is going to take the national average from I think 11.5mb to 16mb. It's not accurate as everyone who still doesn't have access is being left in the doldrums.

Hopefully BT and the tax payer will be rectifying that over the next couple of years.

Does anyone know if they will introduce download limits for the 100Mbps service?

I am on 50Mbps at the moment with no download limit (only the P2P throttling) and I would like to know if anything has been said about introducing download limits when things are upgraded.

I would hope it would remain the same, no download limit, and just P2P throttled at certain times.

A good guess (based on the s/m/l/xl/xxl packages) would be that the proposed 100mb and 120mb lines will have no download limit (even during peak times?) and the 20/40/60 lines could be throttled during peak times for download/upload (10am – 3pm and 4pm – 9pm)

Whilst all lines will be affected if useing P2P during peak hours (so P2P between 10pm - 7am)

Cable Traffic management at the moment

Not sure how accurately VM follow that table though

the caps for lower packages are being increased but i'm not sure if it's inline with the speed upgrades. i'm guessing it will be.
