***Final Fantasy XIII-2***

You are imo

I just get angry at people defending SquareEnix as they are a shadow of their former self.

Never mind

Unsubscribe from the deluded thread.

And nothing of value was lost.

Oh right yeah cool, That was a Squaresoft not a SquareEnix Game.

;)

Clearly. I was merely pointing out the fact that opinions differ. I loved FFXIII and became thoroughly attached to the characters and the story just as I have in other Final Fantasys. I look forward to FFXIII-2, and I shall reserve judgement and comparisons until then.

I may have just ruined it for myself now, but I gotta say I really like the soundtrack to this.

There's a lot more backing vocals and singing tracks compared to the previous game. Some of them feel a bit out of place though, but for the most part it keeps the similar style that reflects the universe of XIII.

Funny enough, I also seem to get a nostalgic Phantasy Star Online vibe out of a majority of them too. To think it has been a decade since that game!

Got a few yanks on my friends list and it's pretty annoying to see they were all playing the demo yesterday lol.

sorry but XI "bombed"? it ran for what, 7 years? that's pretty damn good for an MMO these days, had a decent fanbase, many expansions, and turned a good profit. i don't class that as bombing. sure it wasn't on the WoW scale but it wasn't really ever going to be with a predominantly japanese fanbase and a company that doesn't immediately cater to the every need of a casual (i say that nicely as i love wow despite how much it is pandering to ezmode ppl)

I'm hoping this one's better than 13, I still haven't finished 13 yet as I just find it so unbelievably dull with unlikeable characters, virtually no freedom to explore and an un-inspiring story line. The fact you lose a fight when the character you're controlling dies is also so so annoying.

Any yet as it's a final fantasy I still want to finish the lifeless husk of a game.

XIII is worth completing, even though it's not as good as the older ones it's still excellent. By all means XIII-2 is a lot better :)

Same boring combat in the demo, i don't like not having full control over the party. Bring back turn based combat where you actually have to think about your actions, not just wait for the big boss to charge up for the big attack just long enough to let you set to full Sentinel paradigm. I spent most of my battles just sitting there as Commando/Ravager/Ravager and pressing X every now and then to kick off my characters attack chain, just like i did in FFXIII for pretty much every enemy bar the toughest of the Titan Trials (yes, even Orphan)

What i will give it though is that there's quite a few sidequests in the demo, even if they seem a bit generic it's still better than nothing. No real scope for exploration but it is only Chapter 2 so i won't judge it for that.

The voice actor for the new male protagonist is actually pretty decent; believable and not at all angsty or annoying. Serah however is still at a near-Vannille level of annoying noises.

Promising, but from what the demo has showed me will still lack the magic that Final Fantasy used to have.

There are noticeable improvements from XIII, I am looking forward to the game a bit more after completing the demo :)

Remember you couldn't even speak to NPCs in XIII?

I'm convinced Square Enix's business is primarily about ****ting on their customers. That's all that FFXIII-2's demo implies.

It's dreadful, it's absolutely dreadful. It's even worse than I feared. I actually felt angry playing it.

Angry that it's so bad

and angry that people actually like this crap.

Sometimes I wonder if I'd be happier if I didn't have good taste in media.

So why is it bad? I never played 13 last one I really played was ff9, played only ff7,ff8,ff9

Downlaoding now

Main reasons i found 13 to be terrible and the first non MMO FF game i have not completed.

To start, that combat system is terrible, you pretty much spend an entire battle hitting 'auto attack' as its pointless to stack attacks yourself. They had a good idea with shifting player battle styles but in the end i rarely used it.
I spent most of my time avoiding the enemies you can see just wandering around as i really did not want to fight and be bored to tears doing it.

The characters do not really develop like in the previous games, i never sat there and got engrossed in them, concerned over them or to a point of hating them, they were just 'there.'
I remember playing 7 and been genuinely gutted when Aerith was killed, or playing 9 and feeling sorry for Vivi at times.

The levels.....rather than been dropped out on to an expansive world map like most FF's you go through actual levels more or less, the thing is theres very little to no exploration to be done.
Every map looks pretty but its just a straight line from one end to the other, only deviating to pick either left of right to go grab a chest containing a pointless item and then back to your merry straight routed way.

Again unlike the other Ff tittles it does not feel like a 'real world' as there are very little NPC's to talk with, get background off and expand the story further.
There are no mini games, side real side quests or anything worth going off to do, even the main walk in a line quest feels pointless.

The fact you cant just up and wonder around a world map exploring new areas and meeting new characters/NPC's just took away what i loved about the previous tittles. No excitement and no fun.

The only good points about this game i could find are the fact it looks and sound pretty. Other than that i would say its not actually worth a buy, even more so if your a FF fan.
As a stand alone JRPG game by that i mean ignoring the high expectations the tittle FF brings to the table its still a poor game.

It might as well have just been one long CGI film that had the player sit and click a sequence of buttons every so often.

So to sum up what ive said, if you like playing a game that involves no thinking at all, very little skill, a poor shallow story line which bland boring characters to boot and dont ever intend on exploring or having any real input into the game then go and pick up FFXIII.

Just mine and in fact a lot of other JRPG's and especially long running FF fans views on the game.
I really cant imagine the sequel been any better to play.

Personal preference. While it was slightly less involved, I enjoyed the Paradigm shifting and the pace of battles - it felt a lot more real than two sets of people a few metres apart taking it in *slow* turns to hurt eachother.

I spent most of my time avoiding the enemies you can see just wandering around as i really did not want to fight and be bored to tears doing it.

How is that any different from walking through an empty field only to get transported to a magical battle land every 2 steps?

I remember playing 7 and been genuinely gutted when Aerith was killed, or playing 9 and feeling sorry for Vivi at times.

Again personal preference. At first I had issues with liking the characters, but I allowed myself to be drawn in and became enthralled by the narrative and the characters.

That is obviously one of the big differences - the story is much more driven and linear throughout with the only exploration really taking place in the latter part of the game. That said, it was nice to be led along a story.

Again unlike the other Ff tittles it does not feel like a 'real world' as there are very little NPC's to talk with, get background off and expand the story further.

Don't know what game you were playing. There was a deep back story that laid the framework for everything that happened in the game. You sound like someone who played it for an hour, didn't like it and then decided to go on a moaning rampage about how "THAEY RUIND FINAL FANTASY!!!1111"

There are no mini games, side real side quests or anything worth going off to do, even the main walk in a line quest feels pointless.

Did you even get to Gran Pulse?

The fact you cant just up and wonder around a world map exploring new areas and meeting new characters/NPC's just took away what i loved about the previous tittles. No excitement and no fun.

Titles* You do realise that in the previous games, that exploration was usually limited to a sparse green field with nowhere to go but the other town, or dungeon? It's never been like the Elder Scrolls where you can wander around for ages viewing things - it's basically the same as it is now, but it just looks slightly different.

The only good points about this game i could find are the fact it looks and sound pretty. Other than that i would say its not actually worth a buy, even more so if your a FF fan.

To sum up what you said, "I didn't like the game because I didn't understand it and couldn't get into it and because like a lot of Final Fantasy fans I think I know everything and how the game should be and I'm always going to be disappointed when it doesn't match my expectations."

Just mine and in fact a lot of other JRPG's and especially long running FF fans views on the game.

Lots of people enjoyed FFXIII, and I'm sure lots of people will enjoy FFXIII-2. Just because it wasn't a remake of your precious FFVII, doesn't mean that it's a bad game. It's a different game.
