i was wondering what gpu would be best suited for this psu, as Ive seen some stories on reviews where OC have said 450w minimum for certain gpu's yet they have fried 600w psu's.

im looking around the £200 range. I will be using 8gb corsair vengeance ram, i5 sandy bridge, and the Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68.

nvidia usually have better benchmarks especially with fps on games. Could you consider any nvidia cards because they are also quieter cards in general.

the 6950 ice q was my original choice. its just ive already bought the psu ... and dont want to upgrade it for a while so i wanted the best card i could get for the psu. so 200 isnt really the limit. but i doubt any cards in the £300 would be supported by the psu.

You should be able to get away with more or less every GPU on the market.
Whilst there is truth in needing a stable PSU with some headroom, the figures given for requirements are often massively overinflated to cater for the poor quality power supplies.

My system in signature, running 4.4Ghz consumes ~365W max last time I tested it for a little while with OCCT's PSU test (it linpack fully loads the CPU, and loads the GPU fully at the same time). You want to allow some overhead (for PSU aging, and to maximise efficiency), but given your CPU, you will most likely be consuming the same power if not less than me elsewhere :) Plenty of headroom!

Any 2GB 6950/560ti is your best bang for buck, above that, you are paying huge premiums for very little extra performance considering both of these cards can oc to the next card up and beyond.

im assuming the double fan 6950 will be better to overclock? because its identical to the iceQ other than an extra fan.

The ICEQ one probably has one of the best 6950 coolers there is as its an OTE fan(vents out the case).

There are a few guys on here that have reported that some of the Sapphire Dual Fan edition cards already have the unlocked shaders bios factory flashed, you just simply flick the bios switch, oc to 6970 clocks and you have yourself a bargain 6970.

Personally I wouldn't be purchasing it on the assumption/expecting it would work but more of a bonus if it worked as it might not enable at all.
