*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I do it too, but it's because I've played pet classes for over 10 years, I don't care really, mostly everyone knows what I mean and mostly everyone else makes the same mistake, it's automatic, I can't help it. But I do correct myself when people don't understand.

I know it's habbit - just a pet peve, I don't proper rage about it - just tut silently to myself :P

I do the same hehe (even at myself when I do it).

Heroic -> Hardmode
Pet -> Companion
Charge -> Force Charge (ok they can let it slide).
Dungeon -> Flashpoint
Sheep -> Whirlwind
Enchant -> Mod
Disenchant -> Reverse Engineer

I think I've done most of these from time to time, but I call raids "Fleets, gold "credits" and heal "Rep" lol - from eve).

It's going to take a while for the "general gaming community" to break out of it :D

I'm also pleased at the speed of the content, if what I've heards true (about fixing the texture bug to be planned for 1.2) I'd put money on that being in march.

I also like the sound of adding many new PVP arenas.

I'd like about 5 different "skins" for each type (different map type & layout) - along with a few new types.

We have hut-ball. (new idea) ,the turret one (hold the point), void star (objective based).

One which you have to protect an NPC could be one type.

One with tanks/dropships/turrets.

Also, they should do a massive 64man one for the AV kinda game - with sub-quests inside.

Well I'm currently thinking of re-rolling on an OCUK server so I can game with you guys.

Specifically a PVP one. Thinking of changing to a Sith Juggernaut as well, as the novelty of two lightsabers has worn out.

Any suggestions? Or is Niman just the defacto one for OCUK open world pvp?

That's not true, i play a sith inq on Niman and every pvp match I turn up to is a faceroll win.

Because there is more 50's on empire then republic and as such the republic has got to the point where they log into a warzone, see either 1 or no 50's on there side and give up.

Not to mention Sorc's are just a faceroll class anyway. Nothing shows more skill then a chain lighting spamming sorc.

Besides the action pause, constant huttball and lag I really fail to see how anyone could consider SWTOR BGs the preeminent form of pvp out there.

Its due to the class balance, the fact that there is more skill involved in playing the classes. Read around www.taugrim.com for example talks about it a lot.

Most of the hardcore pvp guilds and players in SWTOR have said that TOR is the most balanced and skill based action bar mmo on the market.

So which is it? Unbalanced with faceroll classes or balanced and skill based?

More skill playing SWTOR? Don't make me laugh. The whole PvP sucks and the class issues are really pathetic.

Skill does make a considerable difference in PvP. You certainly notice it.

It's far from ideally balanced, but PvP never really is in games such as this, Blizzard are still failing to balance PvP in WoW even after all this time, after each patch, everything is messed up again and again.

Indeed, and that's why they will never truly be a balanced PvP MMORPG ever again.

I don't know, I think Guild Wars was pretty well balanced for the most part. And since Guild Wars 2 is following the same kind of tracks for the PvP side of the game, that I'd imagine would be to. :)

It's never balanced because dev's listen to forum whiners (not you or anyone on here, this is just a general point) and rather than look at the overall view that a pvp battle is balanced, they instead start trying to micromanage every class so that every class is equal with one another. Its impossible to do and pointless to do, they should look at the bigger picture and what a real, large scale battle would balance like.... oh but they can't do that becuase pvp (in all mmo's of this type) these days is small scale instanced battles.

They will end up in the never ending balance spiral like every other game.

I've said it many times, hardly ANY MMO's balance for 1 vs. 1.
This is the problem to begin with. Unless you're fighting 8vs8 of EACH advanced class, some are just better solo than others, when those classes stack one side of a team it's very rockrockrokrockrockrock vs scissors.

If all classes (any game) were balanced 1vs1, you can add any other class and it will be a skill game. It scales well.
