Waiting 10 seconds for search or New Posts

You need to get a life it you get bothered by a ten second wait. Why the urgency, it's a discussion forum and not a real time chat room. Maybe you should get your search correct in the first place.
 
I like to drop to my knees, thrust my clenched fists into the air and scream, "DAMN YOU FIRST WORLD, DAMN YOU!". By the time I'm finished I feel a whole lot better about my life and the ten seconds are up.
 
I use the time to help under privileged children in third world countries and because of it, it's made me a better person. Use your 10 seconds wisely !

I think a 10 sec wait for ALL new threads should be imposed. This may give the person a chance to think "hmmm, am I posting something worthwhile or just a pile of pish that has entered my head this very second"

Might cut down on the crap threads TBH.

Doesn't that just mean if you spam enough you get to spam even faster...?

I've got to say I wouldn't be in favour of removing the time limit between posting, it's minimal enough as it is and any time you can post a reply in under 20 seconds I've got serious doubts that it's really adding anything much to the topic - that's not to say you can't post a correct response quickly but whether it's particularly worthwhile is another issue. If you're lining up replies but not submitting to post them one after another then the question must be asked why are you doing that?

As for the 10 seconds between searches, it's a practical way to reduce/stop the impact of DDOS attacks as has been mentioned so that's not likely to change. However I'll be honest and admit that search isn't something I used often enough for that 10 second wait to bother me, now I might use it more often but there's no time restrictions as Zefan said.

I hit the posting time limit like once or twice a month.... Now we all know Cleeecooo, probably spends his life hitting it but yeah, it is a bit ridiculous. The search function one sometimes annoys me, but as I rarely search for new posts, its normally when I'm trying to find something and have messed up the search term that it bugs me.

there definitely is a posting time restriction, I hit it occasionally.

I think it's about 20 seconds.
