Hey Guys,

I'm best manning for a friend whose decided he wants his stag do in Bath (of all places) and I'm trying to research a bit about the area having never been.

Can anyone suggest bars and pubs in the centre and anything that's worth checking out for a stag do?

Cheers
Sam

Bath for a hen... yes. Bath for a stag.... hmmm

Well it had Spas and tea rooms :) its a lovely place but wouldn't recommended it for a stagdo! We nearly did it for a hen do last year.

It's got a big ***Fully star out all swear word!*** hill, I remember walking up it for around an hour after a skinful to get back to the student house we were staying at.

I wouldn't go there for a stag do personally, unless you're all gonna get naked and have a gay old time at the baths.

When is it? Could go punting during the day which is usually a laugh. If you like rugby, try and organise it on a weekend when Bath are playing at home as the stadium is right in the centre.

Regarding pubs/bars, there are a fair few! Club wise I'd recommend Second Bridge or Weir Lounge, they're usually always fairly busy.

How many of you are going? Number will help the pub/bar recommendations.

there will be 9 of us, all mid 30s - we'll probably be heading out of town during the day. Cream teas / spa aren't, as you point out, very manly but finding something for the evening seems to be limited to a burlesque night :(

Are there any good alternative music venues?

Bath will be crap for a stag dude... there's some great pubs tho; the porter, pig & fiddle, green park tavern (slightly outside the centre).

Komedia might have some decent comedians on, and that turns into a club on Friday/saturday nights.

As above, why Bath? Bristol is 40 minutes away by train :p

I know plenty of people that have gone there for hens, female 21st/50ths and honeymoons, but never stags!

There's a nice train station which will take you to Bristol, where you can have a real stag do :p.

Lol.

I used to live near Bath. Its a really nice place, and ideal for a Hen Do.

But for a Stag Do... its a bit pointless. You are limited to the standard array of pubs and bars that you get in any town with nothing really special.

Go to Bristol. Tell him to go to Bath for a weekend with his wife once he is married.

Bath's a great city .

One of things that people either love or hate about it is that it's not very LADish. And unless you're the Earl of Grantham arranging Matthew Crawley's stag do (in which case you'd go out Stag Hunting) you're probably going to have that working against you! Hence all the Bristol suggestions.

Bath has many hills, and yes they're chuffing big!

Rugby is a good shout .
Not sure about clubs though. Average age in Second Bridge was about 16 last time I went in there (or is that a good thing? :p) and Weir Lounge didn't have a great reputation (drugs and fights).

Moles.

Weir Lounge is much better now, they renovated it about 2 years ago and it's not the grotty den it used to be (at least that was my experience in 2010).

Moles/Komedia is a good shout for somewhere a bit more alternative/different.
