Hi guys,

I've a work laptop and my own personnel laptop. Creep broke into my house robbed my macbook and about 4000 of other stuff. He then went and logged in, macbook has dropbox on it so I can see his IP address, its from a very small ISP that provides fixed IP address to there customers.

What should I do next? Anything I can do to track who it is? Anything I should try and trick the cretin to install by dropping file into dropbox that can get me more details on him?

The mofo also thrashed my house. I want blood.

-Cheers

Tell the police all the details mentioned in the OP and they should be able to track him/her down via the ISP.

It sucks to hear this btw, I hope you have insurance?

i think if you post the ip someone onhere will have some trickary, maybe theyl be able to instal some kind of keylogger then play it quiet and log all his keystrokes

shortly after this and meanwhile, tell the police too, dont limit it all to just one option.

Trouble is the person using the laptop might not be the thief, could be someone totally innocent.

On topic, obviously, go to the police.

Don't call the police, post on a computer forum who think '4 chan' is both a funny and useful answer.

it is a useful answer! they'll prolly do more than the police will. all the police will say is blabla lack of manpower blabla.
